Wrong! She’s not seeing 10 moves in…this is yet another example of “click bait” from Anna! The title claims her Mom win in 9 moves…a resignation is not at all what I’d give myself bragging rights…only the person looking to boost their own ego would! I’ve played this game out much further and “White”could have still won! More “click bait” “my Mom is a genius…”garbage! That was truly the last video I waste 10 mins on from her!!!

About early wins, this reminds me when I was a student, our school was invited to a tournament. There were 20 teams of 4 in total. Our first match was against a very strong team (the guy on the first board was rated above 2300...). I was playing at the third board and next to me was a player who we had to find at last minute since one of our players wasn't able to play that week-end. Before the game, he asked for a trap and the guy of the second board showed him an opening trick that ends with a smothered mate. So we start the games - these were rapid games with 20 minutes and no increment - and after 2 minutes I heard "Mate!" on my left. I looked at the board and I saw the exact position of the trap! That completely changed the entire match since our opponents started to panick. A few minutes later, I played c6, forking a bishop and a rook. My opponent tried to save the rook and my next move was not cxb7 but c7, TRAPPING THE QUEEN on her original square! 2-0. We finally won by 4-0 a match we should have lost by the same score.

Hou Yifan was also fighting with the best players and was at least in the top 100 at her best but I think she treat it more as a hobby now and have another career outside of chess. Maybe the reason there are so few world class women chess players is that women are more "normal" than men and are not ready to spend 8 hours a day for 10 years to become a world class player and treat it more as a hobby.

Loved that game. I had that position today. Mom remembers move from 1986. I'm trying to remember moves I see on youtube. LOL

Instead of 6.Be3, I think the opponent should have played 6.Nh3. Then if 6...e5, then 7.f4 Nge7, 8.0-0 and if black castles also then 9.f5. It's a pawn sac with a lot of tactics. If black takes the sacked pawn with the bishop then white can sac the exchange with the rook followed by Be4, or if she takes with the knight then you can play Qh5. If black exchanges pawns then declines to take the sacked pawn by closing the position with f6, then white can play g4 and eventually maneuver the knight to h5. And in many lines whenever black plays Nd4, the c3 knight can go to d1 or e2 and push c3 to kick the knight.

13 minutes to make a blunder move... incredible! Also incredible was your mum remembering a move your dad showed her in 1986!! Wow!

I recently had a win in five moves, ninety percent accuracy, it felt great, like the best win ever, although a few months ago I had a 100 accuracy game. It’s always fun though win or lose.

I wish that chess players would just play to the conclusion of games, even when bad stuff like that happens. No resigning, just playing to the bitter end!

I had to examine white's position for a long time before I agreed he was about to lose. Thanks for the analysis before the resign.

Sometimes a blunder is the result of steady pressure from not playing passively. You're Mom had her pieces all in a position to take advantage of mistakes, and her opponent made a doozy.

I play the English opening and get into this position with reversed colours often. As soon as black played e5 I knew what was going to happen

Hey Anna, love the content. I’m very much just learning from scratch. I realise this video is from some time back now but I’m watching relevant videos as I’m going. One question about this game (which is fantastic btw, congrats on this one Pia). Would WHite king to F1 not have saved the day here?
