I soooooo love that Hansen is actually testing chat's knowledge, presenting us with puzzles and tactics. This makes this whole series not only entertaining, but extremely educational. No wonder I am binge-watching it during my work (help me)

40:23 Eric did, indeed, miss a free bishop there. Missed it the first time round but on closer inspection after Qb3 there is a free bishop if you start the sequence with Bxf3. No matter how you slice it you lose a piece in that transaction. I checked with Stockfish 14 to be extra sure too. No defence. Congrats to SmashFactors for catching that live! Nice tactics antenna 👏🙌

What's the sequence? All I see is Bxf3, Bxf3, Nd4, Qd1 and then whites bishop seems fine

Ahh, it might be after Qd1 -> Rxf4!!

In that last game I was wondering for ages why he didn't take the queen, and I assumed there was some GM level tactic I was missing

I absolutely love this series. Super helpful to learn a new opening. I'd love to see this one go to a high rating, and hopefully later more videos with other openings. Cheers brah!

thanks eric for this.I am trying your hippo setup in butllet (1800-1900) and it's really a good one letting me enjoy playing it after getting bored of most of repetitive positions. yeah just play until your opponnent bludners is a great stategy lol

36:50 happened so fast that I nearly missed the Rook hang to the knight, that would've also forked the king and queen once the knight took. Stunning, truly. Eric showed such mercy by just ending the game, instead of taking every single non-pawn piece in one fell swoop.

At that position Eric is highlighting at 41:04, isn't there Bxf3? If Qxc2 you win the rook, if Bxf3, you fork the queen and bischop on d4. I guess Qxf7, Kxf7, Bxa8, Qxa8 could be a continuation, but then you have traded a queen and a minor for two rooks, still up material. What am I missing?

No he would just go Bxf3 after you do that. I was thinking, Rxf4, Qxc2. Knight is pinned so it can’t move or you lose the rook. That’s just a free bisschop like the guy in the chat said no?

My accuracy has dropped from high 70s to low 60s since switching to the Hippo, yet my ratings climbing. Im guessing it’s just bc the hippos known as the Bot Breaker, so the computer just doesn’t understand why im developing the way I am? Either way im a big fan of the hungry hungry hippo 😂😛

Eric how does this work exactly? Do these players get their rating points back after you beat them? Also; Are these people losing their bishops on purpose? An honest mistake can be made of course, but these lines dude! 35:29 for instance Move 2: B b2. instantly followed by blacks B g2. Are you playing paid actors, Eric Hansen? I am at 11/1200 myself and i have never had an opponent do that stuff to me. Maybe i should play the Hippo too and see what happens.

@@tpage8051 Yeah Aman always does that. It stresses me out but he also wins almost every time though if i recall correctly. Also it feels like Aman is a bit faster than Eric, or maybe just better at predicting bad moves from these opponents.
