    Everybody has preferences :) Some people despise turbochargers, others sware by them. Depends what your after out of an engine. You want modabililty (yes I made up a word lol) and other people want reliability, fuel economy or high revvs etc. Well as car enthusiest, whatever makes our job easier yea ;)

    Yeah, these new LS series engines is a very effective design. I'd like to put one in my 94 Caprice so I can improve fuel economy, maybe one of those flexi fuel engines thereby modernizing it in the process.

    Ls bliocks are awesome hands down. I know ford, honda, etc. All have there good products too. But its still one off the most commonly used junkyard motor that you just pull and boost no lower internals needed.

    @jaydnisevil it might not be high tech, but it gets results, the motor is aluminum and tiny, but it makes serious horsepower. "Can you say 500hp all motor?"

    @331sbf More than likely, thats a sleeved and half-way cemented mod-block thats good for little more than a few minutes of runtime. Meanwhile the afforementioned LSX would be good for the street. Thats the difference.

    he might be talking about the idle. bigger cams have rougher idles, or jumping.. but im not sure why he said that tho, i thought the same thing when he said it, but im trying to fifure out why he wanted to have those heads with a mild cam or somesort.. and think he was also talking about keeping it legal as well by using a smaller cam.. idk.. lol

    Never in my life did I ever think I would see small block head flow numbers rival a full on monster set of BBC heads I know several guys getting almost 450cfm out of these Incredible .I would love to build a 15to1 c/r 506ci LSX with these heads and sheet metal intake with twin gen3 1050 dominators and cant forget about a 800 lift roller this combo would be close to a dam NHRA pro stock motor power.

    There's nothing wrong with the design in any of the LS motors. It's not about pushing every engine to the absolute limit, Chevy offers substantial performance that's relatively inexpensive. Also, the LS family is infamous for its efficiency lol

  • @jaydnisevil
    @jaydnisevil14 жыл бұрын

    Haha got me, I am biased. look at things like the merc engines, and the same capacity motor gets around 380kw unmodded. Tuned and exhaust they get around 450kw!! Your right though, not just the top figures, but the torques moutains higher. (DOHC with timing vs OHV) Petrol engines are glorified air pumps, technology just allows them to pump air more efficiently. Well Cross-compatability etc all come from numbers. If you stick with a style of motor, your bound to have lots of parts avaliable.

  • @originaldriver2066
    @originaldriver206614 жыл бұрын

    @jaydnisevil Appreciate the honesty. I will say frankly, that I have my own personal biased concerning engines. I dont like overly heavy, mechanically over-complicated or awkwardly wide motors, reguardless of thier output. If it cant be swapped or modified and be reasonably cost effective, then I dont want it.

    @cienporcientoculopri exactly lol, ford got the DOHC setup, but it dont help them much lol I come from a world, of small japaneese 4 cylinder motors making 600hp under heavy boost, but i have hit a wall in terms of horsepower. Heck even alot of import people are throwing these LSX awesome motors, in thier cars, skylines,rx7, 240sx. The LSX is a worthy upgrade, nice compact, and has gobs of "Naturaly Aspirated" power, in built and boosted form its just scary, over 2500hp capable!

  • @originaldriver2066
    @originaldriver206614 жыл бұрын

    @331sbf Mod motors have more potential?!?!?!? Last I checked, a common, junk-yard variety LQ "cast iron" block was good for 1700hp. (not to mention the fact that ford does not have a factory block to it's name that can survive the power levels of a LSX sport block in street form) Where'd the hell did you get that shit from?

  • @originaldriver2066
    @originaldriver206614 жыл бұрын

    @jaydnisevil Not exactly "High tech"? Are we perhaps a bit biased? The internal combustion engine has operated on the same principle for the last 150 years. Despite what you think of as "high-tech", the only thing that matters in the end is results. Theyre might be quite a few "snazzier" engines about, BUT you are going to fail miserably at finding any other modern engine with the versatility, cross-compatability, upgradablility or cost effectiveness of the LS series motor.

    yes he dose but he is pro LSX so he isn't stupid something is left out of fast wen you leave out torque all the weight and friction of all the moving parts in an OHC setup negates torque numbers early in the RPM range you may get more RPM but you need shallower gears and wait longer to shift wear as More torque taller gear and sooner shift gets a car going fast sooner there are 6 speed standard trans now

    @331sbf interesting, but why is the "little displacement" ford 4.6 litter engine, physically bigger then the lsx motor hmm.... (sarcasm) it might have smaller displacement then an lsx, and be making the same power as a lsx. BUT ITS A HUGE ASS MOTOR. i wouldnt call that very efficient. lsx is much smaller, infact you could actually fit those into a little import nissan 240sx. pushrod technology, surely seems primitive, but its results are amazing! and its nice and compact.

    There are plenty of motors that are WAY better than the LS motors. I will concede that the LS motors have a GREAT note :D but a pushrod OHV engine isnt exactly high tech.

    @nickernosher I have to agree with this man. I mean im young, but i k now a thing a 2 about vars. And if there is one engine that imo is one of the dickest, its the toyota 2jz. Japanese and german vehicles kno how to make strong and powerfull block that last forever. An it seems to me the american behicles are always more focused on pure quatinty 80 percent of the time. I mean sure these engines(ls1,2 6 etc) are powerfull engines. But they just never match up the uerpenean vehicles

    @331sbf Why? Because the both the 302 and LS cylinder heads use inline valves, or the LS block is skirted like a mod motor? Thats as justifiyable as comparing a platapus and a duck by virtue of thier bills. Your comparing chocolate to "shit", my friend. Just because they look similar dont mean that they have the same "taste". P.S. Mod motors suck
