literally just based on the back plate view of the valve body at 8:22 saved my butt SO much time and hassle trying to fit all the pieces back together.

I'm somewhat mechanically inclined. I've done roughly 80% of all my own automotive repairs and never had issues with my work. Transmissions sorta intimidate me. I'm sure it's something I could apply myself and learn, but good gosh that's a lot of moving parts. I wouldn't have a clue how to put all that back together and I guess that's why it cost so much to have one rebuilt/remanned. I tried to rebuild an old Ford F-100 transmission back in the 90's. Probably considered an easy one, but I had parts strewn over 15 ft and couldn't begin to figure out where all the pieces went. I admire this craft. I think it takes know how and talent.

I just finished installing my first rebuilt 6f50, whether or not successful, I hope you can please help. I was careful to make sure the snap rings were in the right location. I built the clutches out using the configuration of the old ones. The one issue I had was the end cap snap ring was really hard to get in. I had to keep the diaphragm lined up to prevent it from trying to get in the snap ring groove. If I didn't have other tools holding it as I went along it would pop out where I had already got it in. Finally, I got it with the help of my brother. The diaphragm was centered, but it seems really tight. I replaced the valve body (Sonnax reman) and solenoid body (Motorcraft) as well, with no programming of the strategy yet. After letting it run for almost an hour and doing the Sonnax recommended shift patterns sitting in my driveway. The shifts felt good, and I decided to see if I could get it to do an adaptive drive cycle, all was seeming ok, with little flare from 3rd to 4th, but not too bad. The road wasn't long enough to reach 50 MPH @2,000 RPM, seems like it may have got up to 5th. I then turned around, after putting it into reverse, which was a little harsh, it seems stuck in 5th or possible overdrive. I came home, less than a mile of driving with it still in this high gear. At home I noticed a noise coming from the Tranny, like something rubbing in a rotation, every time it rotates it hit something, it stops in drive and starts right back up in N or P. I did put a rebuilt F76 reman converter in as well. Any help you may have will be much appreciated. Thanks for the video. Jon

Hello Sean! Please write how to correctly install the Teflon rings (seal) on the central hub, which contains the drum 3 5 R. I don't have j 466 20-1 20-3 b 20-2 (J-46620-1). Got a question. On the first gen 6t75. I took the output speed sensor off, it has a copper end. The copper end spins freely by hand Is that normal??

The valve body bolts and the end cover bolts are torqued to 12 Nm (106 lbs in). As far as door ease, I'm not sure. Sonnax sells what's called the "slippery stick" which is the same thing. Maybe your parts supplier can get Sonnax stuff. Honestly, you won't need it for the pistons in this transmission. You could just use petroleum jelly (vasoline).

Found this video to be the MOST informational on the 6T70 and valve body. If I end up replacing my valve body or 3-5-R wave plate, this will be my goto. Where did you get that Valve Body tray from?

Is this a good transmission? A lot of Impalas have them and have issues, myself. Well I had to replace the torque converter at 50k.

The first generation saw some issues, but around 2012 they seemed to have improved them quite a bit.

First off, great video, thanks a lot for this. But I do have one spot where I'm a bit confused. Near the end, when you're dropping the valve body in, I'm a little mixed up with the bolt lengths and locations. You show 8 of one length, 2 of the shorter ones. You drop the valve body in place, then when you cut to the shot of the bolts all lined up to show lengths, there is already a bolt in place that hold that spring type arm with a roller on the end. You don't really show where that bolt came from, and then in the torque sequence shot its one that is being torqued. Hopefully I'm just a goof and not seeing the obvious lol. Only came across this as I had somebody "help" me on the bench, and now all my bolts are mixed up for the valve body and tecum, so I'm trying to use your video to sort it back out. Thanks again

Chrysler uses 2 wire hall effect proximity sensors for the wheel speed sensors. They toggle between 2 milliamp current levels (6 and 14mA IIRC which makes sense as commercial/industrial gear commonly uses 4-20mA signaling) as the reluctor teeth pass. You can actually hook an LED in series with these sensors and watch it toggle between the 2 brightness levels as the wheel is rotated.

If my vehicle came with a 6f50 can I install a 6f55 and keep it fwd only?

I don’t think so. The area where your axle would connect is a transfer case mounting surface with a set of splines to drive the transfer case pinion.

You might just have some pressure switch films that are cracked. That’s pretty common.

This is the EXACT same issue I am having on an 08 Saturn Aura XR 3.6L. P0752 Shift Solenoid Valve -Stuck On. I came here looking for confirmation I would need to replace the diaphragms only and not need a whole new TECHUM. When I put my car into drive from park it lurches forward after a 2-3 sec delay. Not sure if the 2 are related, bought the car after this issue presented. Any help with the park-to-drive delay then lurching would be REALLY appreciated from ANYONE.

@@jamesj1523 mine would also pause for 2-3 seconds when shifting into Drive but after I replaced the pressure switches it went back to normal. It is a hassle getting that unit out and then a little tricky replacing the switches but if you can do it properly it’ll save you a lot of money. I bought the $30 kit from Amazon and it worked.

On a 2018 there should be six total according to my service info. The best I can explain is that if you have the valve body with the worm tracks facing up, and the manual valve facing you, the two spots that could take a checkball, but don't, are located in the bottom two spots closed to you on the left side of the valve body. It would be the two spots closest to the lower left corner of the valve body if the manual valve was toward you (6 o'clock position). Sorry, but that's the best I can explain it. There's no way that I know of to attach a picture to the comments section.

@@siuautomotive on a valve body there's 4 holes proximity in same line horizontal And one hole we called no5 little dawn then the six one more dawn of number 5 No7 on the top of valve body left side There's last one no 8 located on top right but there's no hole on the case ( diskette)that separate between two sections 2 and 3 Thanks for ur answer Regards......

This looks doable, but what isn’t is getting the darn thing out of my Saturn Aura, 3.6l 6t70.

Hello Yura, regarding the thermostat, I think I wouldn't worry about it if the transmission didn't have any overheating issues and the transmission failure didn't involve the torque converter failing. If it did, I would replace the thermostat/bypass assembly. Once you get the transmission going, the bypass will open when the transmission warms up, and you'll feel the lines carry warm fluid to the cooler. That larger seal is probably the stator support to torque converter seal. Regarding the outside dimensions of the installed seal, I don't have that information. Just make sure the seals are compressed enough to fit back into the end cover. Then keep the cover on the seals until you are ready to assemble the parts into the transmission. If you don't have a seal resizer, you can use your fingers to squeeze them into the grooves. Then you can wrap something around the seals and use a hose clamp to squeeze them into their grooves a bit more. The teflon seals have a memory, so they'll stay compressed for a bit. If you do one at a time, then try the end cover, you can get a feel to see if they are grabbing the end cover with a little bit of tension.

That larger seal I think you are referring to goes on the part shown at 20 minutes 40 seconds. I didn't talk about it in the video.
