Why not just use a back pack for EDC, so you can throw a sweater in it. This is BS, he's in the Sierra Nevadas and has no sweater for EDC? Oh yeah, it's in the van with their other stuff And his antenna on the UV52 sucks since its a VHF/UHF transceiver and is based on line of sight. I use a Nagoya NA-771....but of course I dont go walking around town with it 😄

There are a few items I would add to your bag but one in particular which has come in oddly handy is a wireless HDMI adapter powered by usb. I've used it for lots of mundane things such as hooking it up to the TV in my hotel room and using it as a monitor for my raspberry pi. There have been lots of other great uses I've found for it however. It's been much more useful than I thought it would be when I first added it.

I keep a whole host of stuff there and a backup of tools so I'm not at a loss if my laptop dies or if I need to borrow someone's p.c. for a moment. I smoked when I started doing it about 20 years ago and I got refused on more than 1 occasion because they wouldn't break a fifty, things might be a bit different now a days.
