GLOWFORGE - Does It Still Work TWO Years Later? [WhenGeeksCraft]

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

It has officially been 2 years since we got our Glowforge, so I wanted to take the time to address the most common questions we get and give my overall thoughts now that I have had two years with it. These are all of my personal feelings after using the machine for 2 years. Please know I am a full-paying Glowforge customer and I was not incentivized in any way to release this video. If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments below!

Interesting one and two year videos, thanks. I love my big Chinese machine but it's good to see what advantages the GlowForge offers. I'm thinking about how I can add a camera to my machine.

I bought the pro and the passthrough slot has been great. To be honest though, it wasn't "great" until they included the passthrough slot function to align prints. Since then its been just amazing. I have yet to have a print misalign when I use it. I've been able to print out lots of large items. I use it a lot to cut leather gussets for bags. I used to split the gusset in half and stitch the middle. Now I just cut the whole gusset with the passthrough.

Question about the fan… If you use an inline fan, do you disable the Glowforge fan? If so, how? Thanks.

Great VID, my Front Carriage Plate V-Wheel broke, Im from Canada and no one sells these(that I know of yet). The funny part was I was doing preventative maintenance so nothing would break. Im waiting for GF to send me replacement but now I'm in downtime, and orders have piled up. I wish they would sell these on their main site so i could order 4 or 6 of them. I dont understand why they dont sell more items on that page. If anyone knows where i can buy aftermarket ones let me know thanks !! **Update Carriage plate v wheel $7.42 for a pair Pulley wheel $8.73 from GF reps but you must order through site **

Not only is the box "quite the box", but if you have to send the glowforge back to the mothership for repair.. you HAVE to use that box. And if you don't have it, you have to buy a new one. And the BOX... is 250 bux.

Do you have the link to the inline fan also can I put on even if I have a filter? Tia

  • @TFJotin

I also installed the fan that they use here and its soooo much better. I did get complaints about smell outside from my neighbors so I had to attach a filter to the outside hose.

@@WhenGeeksCraft If you do plan on using the glowforge in an apartment I would consider it. I had about 700 orders for ornaments and apparently around the house smelled like burning wood 24/7

i am going to be in an apartment but im never batching out that much stuff. I def see the benefit though of the filter for apartment life now that you mention it. wood burning smell in an apartment is probs TERRIFING to people that dont know its a safe laser.

I think one of the drawbacks is that it cannot handle a rotary attachment. I am surprised they have not upgraded the unit as it has been out for several years now.

I think it's just because of how much taller it would have to be honestly. It's a big machine already, adding height would make it quite large

I feel like the material you're buying from amazon is overpriced. Could you not get larger sheets for much cheaper? what I have been doing is going to home depot and getting the 2 feet by 4 feet mdf and having them cut it into quarters for 7$. You're currently paying about 8 cents a square inch I think. I'm paying about .006 cents a square inch. Unless my math is off, and boy am I bad at math lol.

Hahahahahaha yea we could but I like the finish on the amazon stuff a bit better. If I was batching out products I would go the home depot route
