Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
As a ghostwriter, copy editor, book coach, and novelist, I've spent a heck of a lot of time on the Kindle Direct Publishing dashboard. But one thing I hadn't done up until now was experiment with the hardcover options available through Amazon KDP Print.
Here's a quick look at glossy vs. matte, cover image overlap, and some other issues to take into consideration if you plan to self-publish a hardcover book through Amazon KDP Print.

This was very helpful. I’ve been trying to figure out what to do now that I’m making a hardcover, and I really appreciated everything you showed. Thank you. 🙏🏼 Congrats on your series!
Trim and bleed, white space, vector images etc are all things you learn when you study graphic design. Also you should print out on your home printer or print shop long before you order a proof. You can get most everything corrected quickly instead of waiting for the proof, and the end result is better.
Dang! I wish I had bought a hardcover! It looks so great! And thanks for this video. It's been a while since I messed with KDP, and I wasn't too happy with the product back then. It looks like they have really updated their game.
Really cool; thanks for this video. Your book looks great
Great video Corey.

Thank you - and thanks for watching!
How interesting how the interior pages changes from paperback to hardcover. I thought they would be the same. Now I'm wondering how much I space I should leave since my interior pages are with bleed. Ugh...I wish what you saw online matched what actually gets printed. Appreciate this video!
Who can I hire to figure all of this out for me? No, seriously.
Thankyou for the advice :)

You're very welcome!
The map bleed for the maps that are printed side-by-side is fantastic - not very easy to figure out on KDP I don't think. Good job!

It definitely took some trial and error to get it to a point that I was happy with. Thanks very much!

@@core.author What a good size fo a fiction book ? 5x8
@core.author

@@amazingworldoflolo6167 Yes, that's a good size. These hardcovers are 6x9, and I also have paperback editions of this same series in 6x9. But I also published a historical fiction novel that I did in 5x8, and that size feels very natural to me (I think I might prefer it over the 6x9 size).

Question: did you use the template KDP offers ? if so it would be nice if we could see your screen shots with the template to see where everything lined up in reference to the dotted lines and the pink areas compared the results you got
How long did it take you to receive your Hardcover copy ? All the shipping times for my books are 6 weeks ? Is that normal, feels like an awfully long time to wait.
Is the binding of the hardbacks only glue or is it glue and stitching of some sort? I'm wondering how they will last in the long run if they are only held together with some PVA glue...

I wish I could reply with a photo so I could show you. There is stitching and glue to hold the pages to the spine, just as you get with a typical hardcover. I'm with you regarding the concerns for longevity - I've purposefully been rough with my proof copies for this very reason, to try to determine how they'll hold up, and so far so good. I do wish the hardback material was thicker and a bit stronger... But other than that, I'm satisfied with the quality so far. Thanks for watching!

@@core.author Thanks for the reply. I'm glad they have stitching! Once this technology gets more widespread and better, I hope that books going out of print becomes a thing of the past.

@@core.authorall we need is a dust jacket… I wonder if kdp will ever do that?

@@TheDreamer452 I do really wish that was an option. I think it would go a long way toward increasing the overall quality of the final product.
I ordered my kdp hardback books in a matte finish and they all have a number of greasy looking fingerprints, it looks like whoever packed them was eating fries. I looked online and saw that a number of people have experienced this problem. I don't want to get bad reviews because a customer is unhappy about the fingerprints....they won't wipe off, it literally looks like they were handled by someone that was eating.

Oh, that is gross and very disappointing... Have you attempted to contact Amazon about it yet?
They did something to the matte finish for my soft covers. It's not the same, seems more plastic like. I don't know what to do. I don't like it
