If there was ever a dispute about who the greatest wicketkeeper/batsman of all -time is, Adam Gilchrist’s 57-ball century in Perth in 2006 ends all debate.

@zach gavelton hes stating a simple fact. and no, im not an aussie, im a kiwi. aussies are our biggest sporting rivals. and the fact is, no one has stats like gilly. when you take into account that his most common batting position was number 7, the fact that he made the number of centuries and runs he did was phenomenal, and will never be seen again from that position. 17 centuries overall, 12 from batting at number seven. do you know what the next best player of that position got? 6. Ian botham, who is a legend in england, could only get half of what gilchist did. Dhoni's made 2 from number seven. Gilchrist played less innings and has still made hundreds more runs in his career. its not even a close comparison.

Tears 😢😢😢😢😢😢 in my eyes as I see him no more in cricket. As an Indian I admired ADAM GILCHRIST not bcz of his great cricketing skills but also his generosity towards cricket for walking whenever he gets out. Noone has ever be so kind in the game of cricket. Apart he is such a wonderful human being. God bless him & his family. Adam u r irreplaceable 😢😢😢😢 Undoubtedly the 1st player who changed the style of cricket, his power hitting in initial 15 over in ODI's just changed the way a game is played completely. Also in test he was just unbelievable. The sixes he hit was a treat to watch. The dashing technique he possesses was mind-blowing. Now that he is in commentary box we people never miss his sound. We say cricket is a gentleman game but this is a GENTLEMAN which is y we watch cricket. MISS U GILLY....😢😢😢

Thank You Gilly!
@russdy19823 жыл бұрын
Gilly was such a barometer and dangerous asset for the Aussies. He could play up the top with such freedom and if he was out cheaply, the Aussies could still knuckle down and consolidate. If he scored highly and at a high strike rate, which was usually the case, it put the Aussies in a strong position instantly. Legend of the game!

I remember downing tools this innings and didn't have to stop work too long to see the most awesome century I can remember seeing hit. MISS U GILLY....😢😢😢

one of the greatest australians to have lived. An honest, integrity ridden, gentlemen. One of the pioneers that changed the keeping/batsmen role and pretty much changed the game in the modern era. exciting, electric, had that 'see ball, hit ball' mentality. a true legend, that innings in hobart vs pakistan to win the test with juzzy langer.....wow!! I still remember watching it live. I mean who could forget that innings? My childhood hero you gilly 🖤 Lots and lots and lots of love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩
he simply was 'the' finest ever. this is how you play cricket. a true entertainer. forget the records (would have been better had healy hung up in time), his presence on the pitch was exhilarating. cricket viewing was at its best when gilly was on crease. his batting gave me happiness like nothing else. Thank You Gilly!

Gilchrist was always a big game winner and single handedly took the game away in 1999, 2003 and 2007 finals and the 3 finals were against Asian teams Pakistan, India and Srilanka . Most teams may still not have an answer to his onslaught even today !!!!
In all of my cricket watching, without question, the cleanest striker I've ever, EVER seen. He doesn't 'hit' the ball. Too violent a description. He times the ball, he caresses it. It's pure sweet spot striking. Hall of Famer.
This guy is the best keeper ever played cricket till date. Look at the success rate of his team where he played 96 tests. He dropped a catch in 2008 test series and decided that this would be his last test series. Kudos for playing the cricket it is set to be played and entertaining us. I used to bunk my school to see you opening with great mark Waugh. Me being an indian always felt bad whenever u got out. Whenever the ball is in air and someone getting down to get it I prayed god please let me enjoy more. Kudos gilli cricket misses u still no one can replace you ever not even come closer to u
My favourite all time wicketkeeper batsman... gilly u made my childhood so exciting.... always enjoyed ur swasbuckling innings.. except agsinst india..!!!😊😊
Whenever Gilly batted I would always stop what I was doing and watch if I could. I remember downing tools this innings and didn't have to stop work too long to see the most awesome century I can remember seeing hit. I didn't notice the vision of Freddie with his mouth open watching that one go up onto the roof but that is the iconic memory of this onslaught. Man I enjoyed watching Gilly play, he played the game the right way in both spirit and intent.
you just see how much love he had for the game massive smile such a heart
My all time favorite cricketer- Gilly! I have never admired any other cricketer more than I did Gilly.
So good alround ! Pace ,spin , onside , offside and the invaluable ability to change the coarse of a game ! Definition of soul destroying...having to bowl to Gilly and Graeme Pollock at their peak ! Probably possible in today's computer world !😎👍
he was the most electrifying batsman of that generation.just a pleasure to watch!
Even being an Indian fan Cricketers like Gilchrist, Flintoff competing against in ashes is spectacular.its the end of an era of legends.
The match that made me a fan! :) Good Memories
He is an absolute legend of cricket. A master of his art, and a genuinely nice guy. There will NEVER, EVER be another Gilly. He completely redefined the role of the Wicketkeeper batsman. Most likely he will be forever remembered as the worlds greatest Wicketkeeper batsman. Sangakkara was awesome too, but it was Adam Gilchrist that redefined the role of the Wicketkeeper batsman.
Every cricket lover in any part of the globe is a fan of his artistic demolition of the opposition..He was indeed a class act both with the bat & gloves..!!
A true Gentleman of the wonderful sport.
You have a heart of gold Gilly, you are an absolute legend and a great ambassador of the game.

As a Deccan chargers captain you lead our Hyderabadi team to win the title in 2009 which is a feat in fact.. we indians more specifically Hyderabad/Telugu people love you alot... as amazing as this knock was, we need to appreciate the camera work and backing music. gives you chills. well edited video that makes you feel like your right at the crease with him
My favourite cricketer of all time. Amazing batsman, keeper, and team man, and top bloke as well.
Gillies words on retirement were very emotional..
I was in the back of a Ford Falcon Wagon, parked in the shade, in Adelaide on a stinker, listening to the ABC Grandstand for the entire innings, it brought a tear to my eye for sure. Lots of true cricket fans delighted in the Gilchrist Career, including me from the 1994/95 shield season onwards.
Hats Off to cricket Australia for such beautiful Videos Thank you very very much 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺💚💚💛💛

My favourite and now when I watch R.pant play it reminds me of him..
