Fantastic video, thanks! I love these old videos. I remember first seeing Glorietta in the early 90's and saying to myself, "I have seen the future and it's Glorietta." Ayala Malls are very well maintained unlike other establishments. SM Megamall was state of the art at around this time but has deteriorated since then.

Yup, I fondly remember the Makati Supermart spaghetti. The supermarket's cafe was always our pitstop after mom and I had finished grocery shopping. Thanks for the upload.

At the time Quad cinema was already Glorietta 1 i think and Glorietta 2 was under constructiion. I remember the Grandstand where me and my band played. Your video brings back so much memories. Mabuhay ka evancortaz2

The nostalgia feeling!

I remember that day that the plan to cover Rustan's , Quad, Anson and the stores shown was presented to us and I said that was amazing. Also when a guy asked for a permit to build the Mega Mall, Not to forget how deserted the area in front of Meralco used to be, now they have all those developments.

Very nostalgic. Good ol days life was simpler. Had fun during my childhood. Quad my all time fave theater. Better watch out for the renovation of Glorietta they would mix greens this time. Looking forward to it once I get back.

Just before. In fact Pinatubo erupted just 2 days after this video was shot.

Yes indeed, I had some when I went to Alabang Town center in 2010. Just as delicious as I remember! Although the portion was smaller than I remember...

Makati is a joy to me. by just simply walking around gives me more dreams and ambitions. I miss Makati and the good old days.

yung kalabaw na lang naalala ko. Bihira makapunta kasi diyan pag wala ka sariling sasakyan mahirap mag biyahe. Pero alam ko wala talagang Glorietta noon, part ng SM Makati yung karammihan sa nakita ko. Yung Quad ang mas kilala noon sa part ng Ayala na yan. Isa na lang natitirang antigong mall diyan sa Makati yung Manila Cinema Square. Hehehe

You are totally right about the spaghetti at Makati Supermarket. They still serve it at their branch in Alabang Town Center. Same superb recipe.

Hey, we used to hangout here every Sunday (1989-91). Automatic Centre got this 'automatic' front door which amazed us as it open like magic. Sulu Hotel was just around the corner. The "Star Rangers" (sikyu with motorcycles) used to chase us away, they don't like gwapings around the grandstand. He, he..

When in QUAD makati, of course you have to have spaghetti at makati supermarket, or stay at sulu hotel, watch a movie at rizal theater or at QUAD of course, finally have dinner at Automat. Automat the grandfather of all fastfood centers sa malls today. Food there was definitely edible unlike food at fast food centers these days

@sotolite - Your'e welcome! I remember that McDonalds. It opened around 1983 and It was like the first actual McDonalds I had ever seen! Previous to that I had only seen McDonalds in like movies and TV shows. I actually applied to work there when I was like 15 years old, back when it first opened, but I never heard back from them.

@ned80sdude - Thanks Ned, we spent a lot of time at the Grandstand, we might have even seen your band at some point :) Small world isn't it?

I first set foot inside Glorietta Mall in 2000. Nahihiya pa'ko noon kasi feeling ko, super promdi ang itsura ko. Mga 80% of the people were really dressed well as in fashionable, rich and sosyal. I remember the smell of a pang mayamang mall. I used to go to Paseo de Roxas all the time and I loved going to Glorietta after. I told myself na pag may pera na'ko one day, babalikan ko ang mall. Fastforward 4 years later, medyo may pera na'ko. I went back and felt proud to be able to shop there. Feeling promdi pa rin coz nakulangan ng pocket money. Then in 2009, I brought along my hubby and baby with me. I was too surprised to find out how bad its condition was. Nawalan ng class. That time kasi kabubukas lang ng MOA kaya halos lahat pumupunta doon. It's such a shame that it has gone downhill.

Landmark was a bit different except the escalators are in the same position they still are today. Also, the McDo is still there.

Nasaan po mismo ang Glorietta? At thank you po sa video na ito. It made me wonder what "Glorietta" was like in 1991 [the year I was born and several decades before Glorietta would be our go-to mall] but I remember the "iconic" seats from Landmark food court [rotating and bolted on the table, pastel colored] and the separate interior facade of McDo -back when they had "outdoor" tiles. Landmark supermarket was selling Fortune bakery goods

Especially in the light of the recent bombing. I kept watching the news hoping somebody would offer some kind of video history of the area, but there was nothing.

Yes, Sulo restaurant. That was actually their logo as "sulo" (torch) itself. Lots of people around the mall but if you just walk across the road and go to the next street, that place is like a ghost town. Thats where we hide from the 'Star Rangers'. Thank God and that place is gone.

Hoooy mga tga Makati High school. Tga bukas ng Glorrieta. Hahaha

uy astig. i remember the playroom of mcdonalds has a cage in a form of grimmace tapos meron din sila maliit na merry go round na pang apatan ata na frykids yung nakalagay instead of horses. the restaurant in the beside the grandstand is ling nam ata. i also remember yung sa parksquare 1 may ice cream parlor dati.

I love it. this make me purify my good old me.
