"Rhythm Is Gonna Get You" is a song written by Enrique "Kiki" Garcia and Gloria Estefan, and released by Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine in 1987 as the lead single from the album Let It Loose (and the European version of the album Anything for You).
It was their fourth top 10 (and second top five) single on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number five. In the UK, it took a year and a half for the single to become a chart hit.
First released in June 1987 as the first single from Let It Loose, the song failed to chart; a reissue came in February 1988 after the song featured in Stakeout, once again the song failed to chart. However, after the success of the follow-up singles "Anything for You" and "1-2-3", the song was re-released in December 1988 just before Christmas and became a UK top 20 hit, peaking at number 16 in January 1989. The song was also featured in promos for Wheel of Fortune, with lyrics changed to "Wheel's Gonna Get You".
An extended remix was released on a 12" single in the US.
It was sampled in a 1989 Bollywood film, Tridev, in the song "Oye Oye-Tirchi Topiwale" and "Gajar ne Kiya Ishara". It was later sampled by Estefan's own 1998 single "Oye".
In 2018, it was selected for preservation in the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or artistically significant.

This is my favorite Gloria Estefan and MSM song. Conga was alright but this one gets the dance floor poppin'. The tribal calls and beats never age! O eh, o eh O eh, oo, aah O eh, o, eh O eh, oo, aah Yah, yeah, goh! You know it!

I'm loving these Gloria Estefan reactions. You definitely needed to know about her. Without Gloria, there would have been no Jennifer Lopez, no Shakira, no Ricky Martin. They all walk in Gloria's footsteps. FYI: Gloria has performed at the Super Bowl 3 times.

Love Miami Sound Machine! I can’t imagine that anyone listening to this could not help but get into the rhythm! They were such a good group. Gloria has a really good voice, and she wrote some of their best songs as I recall. “The Words Get In The Way” is a beautiful ballad by her. I hope you get to react to it.

My mom was a big Gloria Estefan fan growing up..plus being from a Puerto Rican family alot of Gloria and Celia Cruz (who are both Cuban) and a little bit of Madonna was played at my aunt's parties..I remember being 10 years old and dancing with her to this and also danced to it myself alot..brings back good memories

They are Huge and I mean HUGE, in the Netherlands!! Sold out concert nights night after night. I really liked them. I have this single, I remember dancing in my bedroom to this. They gave the 80's some much needed Spice. Love this !!!

Still holds up well such a catchy tune. Coming off the heels of the conga it was a very good run that she had back in the day with a string of hits Full on Latin roots showing on this one
🙌 Gloria, both with Miami Sound Machine and as a solo artist, is underrated as a pioneer. She was a Latin superstar wayyy before JLo emerged. I love her incredibly smooth, warm and effortlesss voice. Such a glowing tone. Her solo hit Cuts Both Ways is a must listen as a showcase for her vocals.
As much as I love Gloria, their early stuff has all of the sounds. Every instrument in the orchestra hitting in there somewhere. Cars and birds and stuff. They're really a sound machine.

This songs a BANGER!!! LOL.You can't help but start dancing when you hear this song.One night at Walmart this tune came on,we customers formed a conga danceline from produce to the checkout line!!! LOL.People just joined in,what fun!!! LOL.It was late at night so no-one was TRIPPING!!! LOL.People were laughing and dancing,having fun.And this was during covid.FUN NITE at Walmart!!! LOL.

Wow! I haven’t heard this in ages. This was a bop then & it sounds even better know. I forgot how great Gloria Estefan & The Miami Sound Machine are. You should check out Turn The Beat Around by them as well. It’s a remake of a disco song from the 80’s. PS. I’ve been watching some of your older reactions, you are the only person I see who reactions to Fleetwood Mac’s live version of Sister Moon. Fleetwood Mac & Stevie Nicks( solo) are favorites of mine.❤️❤️❤️
This and "Conga" are equally good Miami Sound Machine🔥🔥🔥bops! Been loving those Latin rhythms/influences ever since I heard Santana's debut album booming from my older brother's bedroom when I was 10, and then throughout the '70s with bands such as Malo ("Suavecito"), and El Chicano ("Viva Tirado," "Sabor A Mi," "Tell Her She's Lovely"). 😄

My parents loved them and I loved them also. If you like her upbeats, her ballads are equally as good and probably even better. So versatile! Also love the mix of Latin and Afro Cuban instrumentation throughout her music. So true to her roots!

This is all taking me back to childhood. I know that Gloria and Miami Sound Machine are more known for songs like Conga (iconic), and their ballads (which are beautiful), but THIS has always been MY favorite Gloria/MSM song forever too!
