The thought that Mike really just used Gloria and her household to benefit himself while going to college and getting a good job just to move his family across the country so to abandon them doesn't work for me! He really was a MEATHEAD!!!

Personally I find it irresponsible and lazy that the writers would allow the viewer to think marriages during that time failed on such claims. I don't agree with the writers.

Ppl blamed Gloria for what she did n ofcourse she was wrong but they failed to look a the real picture, fault was from both ends. Mike for months on end left her alone n on the rare occasion that she was invited to an outing she was ignored all night long n she felt alone, according to the story she had no friends there n no family clearly...what she should have done was to speak to him n say how she feels n if things dont change that she will go back to her parents...looks to me like Mike gave up on her when they moved to Cali but she got the blame for everything...Mike went back on his word to Archie, shame the storyline went that way.

Everything that Gloria feared would happen to her marriage ended up happening. Mike moving up in his academic career, them moving to California and Mike leaving her and Joey behind. Deep down, I think Edith and Archie saw it coming, too. Sometimes, I think Mike and Gloria wasn’t the best match.

@claudiusreed9691 Seemed like the characters really loved each other until they moved to Cali then Mike changed.....the sad part was when Archie, being old fashioned, although I can understand n respect the traditional way of life, he blamed his own daughter for the marriage breakup by saying " how could you do this to him ?" for the affair but there was no mention of Mike having an affair with his assistant in that scene...I guess the writer's weren't thinking straight there. Mike lied to Archie...I love this show but that part was not right.

Sally S was looking so good in this! Why didn't this sitcom succeed? I like everything about the story and people. This one had promise and was a great continuing story from Archie Bunker.

I can see now why this didn't fly. lol

So, because Rob Reiner didnt want to come back to an interior sitcom, the so-called creators of this show decided to assassinate his character. 😒

That's creepy he's just dropping off Gloria's half of the divorce property and he knows all that stuff about her that's too creepy😢. I can't believe Gloria decided to go out with him because he's displaying creepy and predatory behavior .

Well, life isn't perfect, it just happens.....

Too sad. I hope that Elliot and Gloria get together when she stops loving Mike.😢😅

Michael "Meathead" was always my least favorite character! He definitely used Archie, living..and eating...there free while he got his education! This show wasn't bad, it was kind of cute. I would have watched a couple of seasons of this!

Didn’t care for the show Gloria! But a very powerful emotional episode. Sadly the last hurrah 😢 of The All In The Family 1983. Michael Stivic was definitely a selfish MEATHEAD ! All about himself 😢

@@DaddyOfTheSugarVariety I think they're referring to the episode when Archie, Edith, and Stephanie visited Mike, Gloria, and Joey in California for the first time during Christmas. Mike and Gloria had separated, and Gloria confessed to Edith in the bathroom that she was seeing someone named Bud Krieger.

Meanwhile she said she's seeing someone, didn't necessarily mean they slept together although it would have eventually happened if Gloria n Mike didn't patch things up with their differences which obviously they didn't.
