A lot of boardgame shops (both online and brick and mortor) have a ding and dent option for selling games in case someone wants the game but wants a deal and doesn't care about the box's condition. I'd strongly recommend that so the games aren't just chucked somewhere. But I'm sure you guys thought of that or donating to a local game group or cafe or something. You guys think outside the box like that. Other games I'd recommend to fully utilize the trays you're bundling them with: Sheriff of Nottingham, Raiders of the North Sea, Whistle Mountain, Root, Flash Point Fire Rescue (Instead of Pandemic), Dinosaur World (if you can get ahold of it), Citadels is a classic, and Chocolate Factory by Alley Cat Games is where you have a Factory where you gain resources and cards to build your machine for making chocolate that has a literal conveyor belt running though it. Moving cocoa beans that turn into chocolate, then bars, then boxes of chocolate that you then sell to small, medium and large businesses for points. Great games all of them and they all have component that need trays, perfect fits for the bundle program.

love that scratch and dent discount. especially if there is no other recourse except to throw them out. Local library or gaming club at a HS or collage is also a nice place. The question is would you give them to a toy donation in that condition? I would cause it is a very big expensive game, but would ask to make sure it wasn't found to be disrespectful.

There might be a problem with replacing the games if they also sell what they have "as is". Cant do anything until the company you buy from gives the OK, or you just accepted these at your full price... Think what happens when you buy something that dont work, you have to keep it in case the seller wants it returned or some form of documentations. Even if they end up telling you do throw it away or do whatever you want with it.

That and the box is *not* sturdy at all. It's a lighter weight stock than that of most other games I own and flexes easily, something only made worse by the sheer size of the thing. Don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic and otherwise quality game, but the box is definitely a weak spot.

0:30 quick expanation form a german. Spiel des Jahres (german, translated "game of the year") is a board game award given by critics to games that are innovative, original and well designed. A nomination usually pushes sales from a few hundret to 10K, a win will usually bring those sale numbers up into the millions. A few famous games who got the award in the past: Carcassonne (2001), Ticket to Ride (2004), Thurn and Taxis(2006), Keltis (2008), Dominion (2009), Dixit (2010) , Kingdom Builder (2012), codenames and Isle of Skye (2016), Wingspan (2019) The Award has been around since 1979, since 89 theres been a seperate award for Childrens Games and since 2011 theres the "Kritikerpreis" or connoisseurs prize which would translate to critics prize more accurately though, which is an award for more complex games.

My Family plays large Catan rounds every once in a while with the whole friends group, and the Spiel in Essen is the largest Convention for Board games in the world. Before the pandemic it had over 200K Attendees, and Wyrmwood was there in the past aswell if i remember correctly.

Wingspan and Isle of Skye did not get the Spiel des Jahres awards rather they got the Kennerspiel des Jahres which is "connoisseur/expert game of the year". It is awarded at the same time as the Spiel des Jahres and started to be awarded in 2011. Every so often in one of the years there would be a "Special"award or mention which would be a game that didn't get the award that year because it didn't fit the category properly for Spiel des Jahres. Often these games that would get special award or mentions would be heavier strategy games. Agricola received this award/mention back in 2008. The Kennerspiel de Jahres was created to separate that special award/mention given to heavier strategy games into its own Award and seal.

Gloomhaven boxes, its a known issue. The box cannot stand up to the weight and volume inside, everyone's disintegrates whether at purchase or after a dozen sessions. Everyone tries to figure out storage. Maybe if you can't return them, try to make lemonade and design a Storage-Chest/Box and ship everything inside of that. Upsell people on it.

re: Gloomhaven - the thing is Gloomhaven really isn't a dungeon crawler, it's a euro-game inhabiting the corpse of a dungeon crawler & moving it like a puppet. The mechanics are disconnected from the theme IMO. Not a bad game, but definitely not for everyone. Re: Catan - Actually, I don't own a copy LOL. It's in a weird sweetspot where everyone assumes you already have the base game, so stores only stock the expansions/spinoffs, & not appealing enough to me that I've gone out of my way to acquire it beyond impulse purchase at the local bookstore.

As for good games, Word on the Street is a fun word game for folks who enjoy scoring high for knowing words but hate not drawing the right tiles in Scrabble. UnMatched is a fun and flavorful combat game that you can pick and choose who fights who (with Marvel releases coming out soon). Then there are the Living Card Games from FFG, Lord of the Rings, and Arkham Horror. Both offer engaging campaign play with cooperative mechanics.

So I literally just bought gloomhaven from a black friday deal so I have only done the first scenario. A tile bundle tailored for gloomhaven is almost an instant buy but I don't want to buy that huge game all over again. Are the tiles part of the bundles going to be a stand alone option as well or only the games?

So most of these games are in the collection that my circle of friends have. I own lords of waterdeep...with the expansion and with the broken token set so it all fits in one box. Great game if you don't have it your missing out. I love worker placement games but this is the one I keep coming back to.

Doug on Catan's extension: I do not believe in this, people should not buy these. 🤔 Isnt the whole purpouse of MGT tables to be modular so you can extend what you already have 👀🤣 further more, MGT has accesories that EXTEND the functionality of the table 🤭 so same principle lmao (cherry on top: AFAIK Doug is the VP of MGT...the irony)

I have barely any board games beyond a couple classics like chess, checkers, Scrabble, and Monopoly. My living situation is such that I have no where to host friends for a game night, and all of our schedules are so ridiculous that the folks I would play with often don't have time.

I'd buy a beat up Gloomhaven for a discount. I feel like the box is so heavy it's not possible to fully avoid any box damage.

I would happily take a discounted busted up gloomhaven. I really really want to try that game but its so expensive I cant condone spending that much without playing first. Also saw you guys at pax this weekend was so happy to see an MGT table for the first time and am now even more excited for mine to come in

Every board game store I've been to , has had at least one (if not all) of the gloomhaven lids depressed. It's just a very heavy game and the lids don't seem to like being shipped there just isn't much you can do about it.

I like board games. A better dungeon crawl for kids if Doug wants to try to get the kids into gaming would be adventure tactics! Great level up mechanics! Fun game. A game that could really use a wyrmwood bundle is Concordia! Lots of pieces! Great replayability!

If I had the money, I would buy everyone of those games. Including CATAN since I have yet to purchase it. I would also buy Gloomhaven with the box in that condition due to my kids already denting all my board game boxes. It is just pre dented. Sadly, I am not able to purchase even one right now. Kids Christmas comes first. Merry Christmas all and Happy Holidays.
