Glock 26 Gen 5 with Questionable GlockStore Tungsten Guide Rod

In this video I show what my glock 26 Gen 5 is doing as I slightly pull back on the trigger with a GlockStore super heavy tungsten guide rod installed. The slide rocks slightly back as I pull the trigger to the wall, which repeat the question as to whether this is a serious issue with this Super Heavy Tungsten Guide Rod, or whether this part #1039-BLK-A9-16lb is actually the correct part number.
When I install the original recoil spring guide rod in the gun, I pull the trigger back to the wall & it doesn't do the same thing as it does with the Tungsten guide rod.
Asking for any feedback on this. I may contact the GlockStore or leave the link to this video on one of their videos on KZread and see if I can probably get a replacement or exchange in the event this is actually not the right one. however if I remember seeing correctly guide rods for the Gen 1 2 and 3 are the same as the ones for the Gen 4 and 5.

See reply at bottom. I'm thinking what you're thinking. But it may not actually fit the Gen 5 glock 26. So far, based on the application description and the description saying that it IS for my Glock 26, I'm guessing this one is out of tolerance and defective. I'm waiting to hear back from someone at the Glockstore. I emailed them thru their site cuz I couldn't find an email address to attach pics & be more detailed as to what's going on. Their website only allows 900 characters when you contact them thru their site.

1 when you put that guide rod in to a GEN five when it’s only rated for 1 2 @3 you’re causing a lot of pressure on the barrel lock, and that could cause it to snap or damage your barrel or your locking block or whatever but my advice is stick to the OEM guide rod that it came with because in the long run if you keep running it with the new guide rod that you bought you could wind up with some very serious problems. Much love stay safe please take our advice.

I purchased the 18 lb stainless steel guide rod from the Glock Store and had a problem with the front of the guide rod spring sliding through the guide hole on the slide. When I removed the guide rod the spring came off the metal rod. I was planning to go out the next day and put some 9mm plus "P", which is the reason for getting an 18 lb guide rod. I bought this before the Covid lockdown and felt that I was way beyond the return date of the purchase. Needless to say I lost out. The first Glock Store guide rod I purchased was a stainless steel 16 lb and it works great. I'd like to start using +"P" ammo in my model 26 due to the short barrel. I'd still like to use +"P" and wonder if the 18 lbs is strong enough or should I go to a 20 lb. After seeing your video I wonder if I should buy another Glock Store guide rod. Glock store sells a packet of small washers for guide rods so maybe they are the ticket. Thanks for the video and good luck with your Glock. (they are a good handgun)

You have the wrong gen spring as everyone has said. Don't listen to the people that say it makes no difference. I've had mine in my g19 gen 4 for about 10-12yrs. It does make a difference and I've never had a problem with it. The difference is subtle but is there. The only person that knows how recoil feels to you is you. The only person that knows how the weight of your gun feels in your hand is you.

I already shot it with the Glockstore guide rod. I showed this video to my firearms instructor & he said the slide movement was causing my sight alignment to move. I know my sights were aligned right, but my shots were off the steel plate & I kept asking myself "WTF?" The gun wasn't malfunctioning, but I still knew something wasn't right. I already emailed the Glockstore to see about getting this guiderod swapped out for another one, but havent heard back from them. Not in a hurry to get another one, I'll just keep the original one on for now. I was told that if I want to accomplish the same thing as this guide rod, I should just install a Streamlight TLR-6 light on the Glock. But naw, I'll stick to it the way it is, not my EDC gun. I carry my Sig P365, but this baby Glock is compatible with my other fullsize Glock mags, which is why I bought it.

As others have stated you have a gen5 which uses the 2 stage spring the aftermarket kit you have says gen 1-3 but also uses a 2 stage spring. I’m sure it’s already been suggested but I would get a factory gen 5 assembly. I’m not sure what issue you were trying to solve with the aftermarket part? The factory assembly should be good for 2500 rounds before normal replacement. Unless you have a specific reason to change the weight of the spring I wouldn’t.

If you stay with the original 16 lbs spring tension you are not going to feel any difference (once you get your slide issues ironed out). If you had gone with the 14 lbs spring you'd get less muzzle flip, because for every action there's an equal and opposite . . . third law of motion. The competition guys use a lighter spring for this reason. Just being Tungsten isn't going to do anything except that it's heavier than the plastic OEM. In short, if you stay with the original spring tension there's really no point in replacement.

Guide rod spring weight is too light. It’s so light that the movement of trigger bar against extractor button, is causing over travel and unwanted movement of slide. 18 lb is usually factory spring weight not sure if subcompact have same spring weight but a bit heavier weight spring will most likely correct issue.

That being said, it's the wrong guide rod in that box, so it could be a heavier pound and maybe even for another gun altogether. It's not like he bought the guide rod from the Glockstore. Just keep it stock. Can't beat stock Glock... If you can't shoot a Glock stock , you need practice not accessories.....

A Gen 5 needs no other guide rod, stick with the factory one,Gen 5 glock parts are probably different than other Gen glocks, stop tinkering,a glock is good to go needs no mods

Ouch!!! 😄 Remember, I didn't buy this guide rod. I bought the gun from a coworker & it was in the gun. Luckily, he also gave me the original one that came with the gun plus a few other extras like a appendix holster that I later sold to recoup some $.

Other than the incorrect guide rod possibly, you're gonna also need a camera tripod ....
