Globe-Trotter x Sir Terence Conran: 'Travel the World' (Japan Exclusive)

Globe-Trotter is proud to partner with The Conran Shop to launch an exclusive limited-edition suitcase to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the store in Tokyo, Japan.
Globe-Trotter’s original suitcase designs have been ingeniously customised by Sir Terence Conran, one of the most established and influential British designers of his generation. The collection celebrates his love of travel and documents his journeys through an inspired series of illustrations incorporated into the suitcase’s design.
As an admirer and owner of Globe-Trotter’s iconic luggage, Sir Terence has respectfully retained the design of the brand’s oldest range, known simply as The Original (a continuation of the company’s very first model, dating back to 1897), supplementing it with natural leather handles as well as updating the lining of the suitcase base in the distinctive ‘Conran Blue’ (Pantone 072c) shade - the emblematic hue associated with The Conran Shop throughout the years.
Adorning the suitcase lid is a tiled illustration that incorporates a visual travel diary of the various memorable journeys Sir Terence has undertaken throughout his career. Tiles featuring drawings relating to memories of exotic locales - from his villa in the south of France to further afield - are interspersed with blacked-out ones, symbolising sleep and rest periods.
Sir Terence Conran says "I have always been seduced by the romance and glamour of travel from the 1920s and 30s and my luggage absolutely from the Globe-Trotter range. They are modern classics that look great, are incredibly hard wearing and have always served me well on my travels. That is why I was so ecstatic when they approached me to design a special edition to coincide with the 25th anniversary of The Conran Shop in Japan. It was such a great project to work on and through my choice of colours and simple, playful sketch I have tried to capture the joy and fun I have always taken from my own travels and adventure. I hope this limited-edition item of luggage gives people decades of pleasure and proves to be a happy companion as people travel the globe."
Globe-Trotter designer, Charlotte Seddon says, ‘It’s been a dream and privilege to collaborate with Sir Terence Conran who is such a pioneer of design. I particularly loved how Sir Terence translated his traveling tales by beginning his journey from his front door at Barton Court, expressing this through a charming illustration inside the lid of the case. To me, this case is a piece of art.’
Globe-Trotter’s reputable suitcase has truly been given the design seal of approval - with a much-awaited drawing and customisation by one of Britain’s most heralded designers.
