Global National: May 10, 2024 | Protesters return to Calgary campus after night of clashes
In tonight’s episode: The tents and barricades are gone, but pro-Palestinian protesters are back at the University of Calgary Friday evening after a tense and sometimes violent night. Police say they won’t interfere with protests but that another encampment will not be allowed. Heather Yourex-West reports live from the scene.
Immigration Minister Marc Miller met with his provincial and territorial counterparts on Friday, to discuss ways to tackle the country’s ballooning immigration numbers. The federal government has already taken the step of slashing the number of temporary foreign visas by 600,000 as it tries to figure out the country’s housing shortage at the same time. Mackenzie Gray reports.
An apartment building in Winnipeg has been deemed unsafe and in danger of collapsing. Tenants were given just hours to leave. Global’s Melissa Ridgen was there Thursday night as the news was delivered.

Tributes are pouring in for longtime national commentator Rex Murphy, who died Thursday from cancer at age 77. The Newfoundland-born TV commentator and columnist was known for his sharp wit and even sharper tongue. And accepted that it is for our own benefit and safety. Like the subtle editing of movies, then put them on TV and streaming channels, but the really extreme scenes have been edited out. Yet they still rate the film Restricted with violence, sexual content, and explicit dialog and scenes not recommended for people under a certain age. But they should say it was much more violence, sexual and explicit scenes and language used, but we bleaped and hacked out everything WE didn't think was acceptable. If you want a Un censored version, buy it! Films like STAND BY ME, several scenes were cut. Or Prince's Purple Rain, they cut out the lyric. "Nikki was in the hotel lobby master baiting with a magazine! ". Pulp Fiction is usually so butchered it's infuriating to watch. The Entire Gimp scenes are gone. On some stations, the entire overdose scene is gone. They go from the restaurant back home, but the entire part where she hoovers up that gager line of junk and the drive to the dealers. Gone along with the gimp it's a lame film. I don't know the film maker's don't freak out about them hacking up their Films. All the Kill Bill Films are hacked. Really, anything Quentin Tarantino has made is hack to death and makes almost no sense! Scarface, another film, hacked up. Blade Runner, too. Sorry I went off on a tangent there. Agree and there is a huge difference between peaceful protest for a change in Canada compared to these radical, authoritarian, illegal, resistance cults that are just here to divide and create chaos. No1 likes seeing some innocent people dying but others don’t have to live in fear constantly and defend themselves from attacks on a regular basis. Since 2005 all Israeli settlements within the territory of the Gaza strip have been evacuated by the Israeli government.

Actually maybe you should attempt to learn the facts. I actually went to one of these in BC at the UBC campus in Vancouver. It was very peaceful. In the field by the aquatic centre, students had signs put up calling for peace and calling for Canada to not to fund Israel, while the students were all sitting in the field with their books and laptops and schoolwork, doing their assignments. You fail to understand what is actually going on and believe a false conservative narrative.

Camping wherever you want, even if you’re being peaceful, hasn’t ever been a thing that’s just randomly allowed. If that were the case, then there’d be no point in paying to camp at campgrounds, which are properly equipped and properly insured for such fun and peaceful activities. Being peaceful doesn’t make it ok to just set up and camp wherever you want.
If you keep you muscles in the SAME POSITION FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, you muscles can “lock”…it’s probably best that I don’t speculate what she was doing holding her jaw in a “yawn position” for an extended period of time. I guess she was “singing a song” 😅

What the heck were they doing in Winnipeg? Usually, building construction is FLOODED WITH "INSPECTORS" Such is the case in B.C. It is a government job ffs. The "Building Inspectors should be on the financial HOOK for all the residents. These inspectors are specifically trained so demand the big bucks. & yet they get off "scot free"? Builders should know how to build a house - every aspect so they are on the hook too. It just seems they learned how to cut the corners & build as cheap as possible. Heck, the workers working on it KNOW. Even the Painter knows all the other trades(exception being concrete) even then he has an idea of how it is suppose to be done.

I'm appalled at Israel's actions in gaza and agree these kids have every right to protest... but why on campuses? Why not at city hall? Also, isn't there a genocide of the uighur Muslims going on in China? Why isn't anyone protesting that?
