Glen Affric - The River Trail & Am Meallan Viewpoint, Glen Affric, The Scottish Highlands, Scotland

I really hope you enjoy this film of the gorgeous 'River Trail' and the 'Am Meallan Viewpoint Trail' in lovely Glen Affric, which is about a 30 minute drive from Drumnadrochit, Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands.
The River Trail is just one of the many beautiful walks which you can follow in Glen Affric and I'll be posting videos of many of the others in the next few weeks.
The River Trail follows a section of the River Affric amongst some of the most beautiful scenery in Scotland. There is a (paid) public car park at the start of the River Walk, which follows a gravel path for about half a mile. It's a bit uneven in places, so make sure you're wearing suitable footwear. It normally takes about half an hour to do the River Trail and about 20 minutes to climb to the magnificent Am Meallan viewpoint, which has great views of Loch Affric and Loch Beinn a' Mheadhain. It's a fairly steep, but short, walk up the Am Meallan trail to the viewpoint, so only attempt if you're in good health.
It's worth mentioning that access to the car park for the River trail is via a single-track road with passing places - so please drive very carefully. I also had no mobile phone signal while I was there.
Glen Affric has a very special place in my heart. Its Gaelic name "Gleann Afraig' means 'the glen of the dappled ford'. Its scenery is one of the most beautiful in Scotland - an incredible mix of lochs, pinewoods, rivers & mountains that offers an unrivalled landscape anywhere in the world. It's the sense of serenity and peace that I value the most. It has a spirit and a certain tranquility that makes it a place of healing and rejuvenation.
Keep your eyes peeled for Eagles, Crossbills and Pine Martens. I got incredibly lucky and saw two Pine Martens on the drive home, which was wonderful.
The Music is by Clannad and the wonderful Karen Matheson, who's one of my favourite singers of all time. She has a very beautiful voice.
Thanks for watching. It's just me doing the filming, so a like and a subscription really helps me out to keep filming. If you'd like to hire me as your guide, or for filming, you can contact me through my websites -

Thanks Janet, that’s really kind of you 😀 I really try to ignore the numbers & the pressure by YT, but the frustration I have just now is that YT isn’t notifying subscribers when I publish a video. My wife & my sister have both said they’re not notified when I publish a new video and it’s really disappointing, especially when people have subscribed. But never mind. I will never stop filming all the things I love and accept the things I cannot change in this new world of technology! Have a wonderful weekend, all the best, David

Hope all is well and you’re enjoying your music and Knitting. I’ve come off Instagram, so I’m missing seeing all your lovely creations. Take care & have a lovely week. Best wishes, David 😃

Spectacular! Glen Affric is absolutely beautiful! Truly breathtaking! So peaceful & tranquil! I had never heard of this stunning area until now! Yet it is one of the most captivating places you have shared thus far. Also, your filming & footage is outstanding as always! It would have been delightful to join you there, as you sat by the River Bank drinking in the beauty of this magnificent Glen & raising your arms in Praise to the Lord for the blessings He brings through this beautiful place! What a joy that would be! Thank you for sharing another delightful experience in this wonderful Glen! Blessings to you David!

Awww… thanks so much Annie, that’s very sweet of you and much appreciated. Yes, it really is the most wonderful place and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, albeit a short one. If I’m honest, I am a bit shy of filming myself, but I think having someone in the films does help 😀 I’m currently editing a few more trails from the glen which I hope to have out in the next couple of weeks. Hi David, many moons ago I and my family went to Glen Affric whilst we were camping at Drumnadrochit. That is such a beautiful glen. You've certainly captured it well with the forest, river and the wildflowers looked so perfect. Loved the reflection in the loch. It certainly would be worth going back there. So thanks for sharing. Oh btw you didn't see any ospreys did you. There are apparently some in that area.
