Hello everyone, thank you so much for stopping by the channel. Today we have another Glee performance! I've heard you all tell me this number is one of Naya Rivera's best work, so of course I had to react to it. Thank you to everyone who recommended this, I appreciate it so much :)

I personally prefer this version than Lea's, cause Naya did her own version and not try to copy Barbra like Lea, but at the same time, Naya added some things of Barbra, like an inspiration. That's why I love Naya, she was amazing. But I need to say that Lea is amazing.

For context of this scene: Rachel was cast as the lead in the Broadway revival of Funny Girl, she off handedly tells Santana that she has to go help cast her understudy which she doesn't need anyway because she never won't go on. Then as you see Santana shows up and auditions.

I’m hard-pressed to say which rendition of “Don’t Rain on My Parade” is my favorite; both are really unique and fantastic. In this scene, Santana is auditioning for the part of Rachel’s understudy; also, her entire performance is a riff off of Rachel’s original performance of the song, and it’s more than a bit catty and sassy and amazing

I love that you mentioned her vibrato, because English speaking vocal coaches rarely mention that aspect when is usually such a personal vocal signature. Hispanic coaches bring it up immediately. Perhaps is not an important trait in English speaking singing. I mean, you must be the first person that has mentioned that.

I love both Naya’s and Lea’s version of this song - Lea’s is more faithful to the way the song was originally sung by Barbra Streisand, Naya definitely made it her own and suited her more poppy style of singing. I’d love to see you react to Lea’s take on the song and compare the two. Also, I know the character of Rachel Berry (and to a certain extent, Lea Michele herself) is a bit of a nightmare but her voice is first rate and she delivered some truly remarkable performances on Glee and I think it would be a shame to overlook her.

Naya just blows me away with every second she is on screen. You absolutely need to watch all of Glee. It’s a fantastic fever dream. The did over 700 songs and it’s much better watching them within the context of the show instead of individually, though I definitely go back and watch individual performances all the time.

Both Lea and Naya had different vocal styles and personalities that projected onto their characters so well. I think you should've watched both back to back in chronological order because it adds to the payoff of the scene and not only as a performance but also as a storyline. It's even more hilarious! I personally don't like Lea's voice, (her tone and her style is annoying to me), plus I find her boring as a performer but she's funny as an actress and does her singing well, I guess, even when I don't enjoy her songs. Darren and Naya are kind of the most well liked performers from Glee. I love everything Naya did on Glee, from solos, to duets or group stuuf. Zero complains from her. Anythign Naya is a GO.

Boring as a performer? Yet selling out every night on Broadway... she's gone but let's not kid ourselves into believing Naya would even be close to electric as Fanny Brice in a Funny Girl revival. She'd be as badly reviewed as Beanie was.

@Toy Soldiers they are simply sharing their preferences. Your the one who is defending Lea Michelle like she signes your checks. While also putting down naya. Calm down hon

Context: Rachel originally sing this song in sectionals S1, this is S5 Rachel is cast as the lead in Funny Girl in Broadway, Santana moves to NYC with Rachel (and Kurt), they told Rachel that she needed and understudy just in case, so she told Kurt and Santana, later on Santana goes and audition without telling anyone and sings “Rachel’s song”

Lea's version is pretty good as well but I think Naya's performance is way better.

I would love to see you react to Naya Rivera doing a duet with one of the other actor’s on Glee, Chord Overstreet! “Make no mistake, she’s mine” it was such a wonderful duet!

Both versions are great and vocal wise very nice. If you like the traditional Broadway sound you will prefer Lea's version. If you don't mind a more pop sound Naya's is great. I like Naya's because of the spin. So many great vocalists sing it traditionally. I like that Naya did it her way rather than to do a cookie cutter version of it. Do yourself a favor and watch Lea's, you will be pleased. Her character may be wretched but her vocals are undeniable.

Both versions of great. But Naya’s hit Bc Rachel’s version in season 1 became a huge staple of the show then she came in and killed it in her own powerhouse pop vocalist way. Rachel/ Leah took the Broadway vocals lane but whenever Naya and Amber did Broadway numbers they would KILL it

you should react to New York State Of Mind (billy joel song not the jayz and alicia keys one) from glee. It´s a duet/merge type performance between Melissa Benoist aka supergirl and Lea Michele. It´s one of if not my fav duet from the show. There´s also a whoopie goldberg cameo lol

I personally prefer Rachel's version waaaay better. U should react to it as well. Lea and Naya have different voices. Lea's version is more Broadway and faithful than Santana's
