Yea but the idea was that Kurt was overcoming that. Also that was a really prevalent issue at the time that needed to be talked about and that’s kinda what glee did. Also, the dynamic and kinda the whole show changed a lot as they went on to the later seasons, so Ryan’s reasoning behind that might have been altered. But yea. True.

​@@julial6189 Agreed! It's not like he wrote the high school version of Kurt being gay bashed, or gave him Karofsky's story line where he attempted S. In season 5 Kurt runs in to defend someone else being gay bashed and he himself gets hurt in the process. But it was speaking to how brave he was and how far he'd come that he'd willingly take a beating to stand up for what was right.

So, where is Lea ?

I don't agree that it's not possible to make a series without original music. That's a cop-out for laziness. I'm currently in the process of making a seven season-long series that will have only original music and will be made into two different versions, a musical one and a regular one for every episode so that way there's something for everyone.

on the time frame they were in, they truly didn’t have the ability to do that. they had a network TV schedule. it was hard enough for them to shoe in 5 numbers an episode, make them make sense, and try and keep them somewhat relevant and timely (from season 2 on as they didn’t really do modern music much in season 1)

@@quirkypurple3 Of course, there's time. You hire screenwriters and songwriters to work together simultaneously, you can crack out four good quality scripts a month. It's not that hard, they just didn't want to put in the time which speaks to how bad the show often was.

It’s really great you’ve been able to do that yourself, but I’m not sure if Glee specifically would’ve been the hit it was with just original music. I think it was a smart move to use music that’s familiar to (a wide range) of people. Especially songs from our childhood can create such vivid memories, it’s really a great way to evolve the public emotionally. (Not to say that can’t be done with eventually with original music, it’s just a different process)
