Ryan Murphy from The Glee Project stated he didn't know how to create a character for her and insisted she define what character she should be on Glee. So instead he gave her these two bit parts to showcase her talent. It is criminal. It's not the actor's responsibility to create the character from scratch, that's THE WRITER'S JOB.

@Caín Vera Sugar's super funny though and she's useful as a plot device for several interesting storylines. (we have her to thank for the Troubletones). She's even more interesting than the new characters in the later seasons (obviously this isn't a personal jab towards the actors who play those roles). It sucks though if what the previous commenter said is true that Lindsay couldn't give the writers any inspiration to write but if anything i look at it as a testament to her, that even without a name or backstory she still delivers some of the best music for this show rather than just stupid, terrible filler and forgotten ones.

She should have been Rachel’s NYADA rival.

They should have hired her for SEASON 4 and had her transfer to the school! What an extraordinary voice with such passion and intensity. Blows Rachel out of the water. She can't dance or move efficiently but that could be the weakness which she comes to grips with and learns to appreciate her one true talent which is broadway singing. This girl is so good that I honestly thought she was a hired broadway professional. Turns out she was just a high school girl and tried out for the Glee Project??? Seriously??? Why aren't they putting her brilliant vocal talent to use?

AscensionStudiosCA I guess because she did not win the show they couldn't really keep her around (unique was so well received and was such a great representation of the trans community that she was kept around) so by the contest rules she couldn't become a permenant cast member

Glee had some of the best musical talent on tv and they literally did NOT utilize it correctly. It’s so frustrating.

the maln reason is because Ryan Murphy didn't want anyone to overshadow Rachel and let's be honest, Harmony or Sunshine could overshadow easily Rachel

I wish they had kept her on as Rachel’s rival. It would have been so satisfying to see Rachel finally get a taste of her own medicine and have to put up with someone who not only had as much talent as she did but was just as obnoxious and obsessed with her own self-importance and the spotlight. Though since we now know what a nightmare Lea was to work with and how she was the one pulling all the strings backstage she probably wouldn’t have allowed Lindsey a permanent role because she would have felt intimidated by her.

I will never forget this scene. I remember even back then i was blown away by this chick. I laughed my ass off seeing rachel n kurt cry in the car 😂 it was so fitting and realistic! Who wouldn't cry??? They were right to be embarrassed. But *she* lingered in my mind. A crime, that she wasn't actually included in the show. I think glee would have succeeded as a show if they called her onto the show as Rachel's truest rival in school + Broadway after graduation. (Instead we got boring Marley) but ITS OKAY since she was snubbed from cast of glee, she succeeded indeed in the real world. Now a Broadway Legend in the making, while Lea Michele is kinda uh... Well we all know what happened
