These two videos were fantastic. I love the underpainting and glazing. Reminds me a little also of the Elegant Landscapes from Cindy Baron. Cindy Baron also uses transparent underpainting and carves out with a tips and paper towels. I love this lesson from Michael Orwick. And learned so much. Thank you!

Loved part 1 - so glad part 2 has landed. 6.15am in England - snuggled on the sofa with the dog and a cup of tea. What a great way to start my day 😊

Thank you Michael for this segment on glazing. I learned about glazing in art school 25 yrs ago but was limited with materials we could use to achieve the effect at the time (linseed oil was the only thing we used at the time). You have renewed my interest in doing a tonal painting and then after that’s dry, doing some glazing. Also, I am in the Portland area and perhaps could take some classes at some point with you. Again, many thanks. LillianN

That was so enjoyable and educational. I paint with acrylics and so I will have to figure out how to adjust this method to my acrylics. Always a fun challenge.

Because of how my brain works, I like to have 3 distinct categories of paint on my studio palette. The transparents, my primary paints, and my greys. The transparent colors (many of them earthy and a bit "dirty") are also great modifiers when mixing as well.

In 65 years I have tried a glaze maybe 3 or 4 times, but in my heart of hearts, I prefer to paint thick. When you're following the thin to thick rule it makes glazing pretty much a no-go.

Yeah that alla prima is Celeste B. Likes to do . I don’t think Michael thinks it matters if he paints from life or not, his customers don’t care. I agree with him on the alla prima. Some of that stuff isn’t planned well imho .
