    Thanks for the tips, That Glasses Guy -- this issue was driving me crazy! The legs of my glasses are completely coated in plastic, unlike the one you use in your sample. I used the same technique you shared, just a lot more gingerly, lightly feeling for where there was the most give because I couldn't see where the legs became thinner.

    Thanks so much! I went to the glasses shop 4 or 5 times for one pair of plastic frames and all they did was curve the temple around my ear more :/ I ended up switching those plastic frames for metal ones that I could adjust easily myself since obviously it wasn't working with them for some reason - either they don't have the experience to look at someone and listen to them describe the issue and fix it or I chose the wrong words to describe my problems (native English speaker living in Germany describing my problems in German).

    I thought this was my problem, but I'm realizing it's not. :( I have a pair of plastic lenses that have always been a pain with adjustment, but I lost and then found them on the floor tonight and noticed they were particularly awful. The right lens seems to be bent up at a 15° angle. Is there any advice you can possibly give for this? I'm reluctant to see if my optician can fix it, because they have a bit of an attitude about Zenni optical lenses, but they tested my prescription and the lenses came in perfectly. I'm due for an exam soon anyway, but in the meantime, do you think there's any way I can fix this? Thank you so much, just found your videos and love them. Instant subscribe. :)

  • @ThatGlassesGuy03

    @ThatGlassesGuy03

    Hi Logan, thanks! The only issue with zenni frames is the WIDE range of quality. Some of their plastics are super cheap and break looking at the wrong. And some are decent acetate that just didn't make the cut for others. I have a video on standard alignment, and heating and adjusting plastic frames, those two should get you back to wear you need to be :) ... I'll never understand any optician snubbing their nose at a pair of glasses someone uses for everyday life.... 🙄 I actually just put lenses in and polished up a zenni frame to make it surprisingly nice for a client's daughter while they're out of the country 😁

  • @harshsidhu3028
    @harshsidhu30283 жыл бұрын

    Hey! Thanks for the video. I have a really specific problem with my glasses and I'm hoping you can help. So basically my glasses only rest on the left side of my nose leaving a very small gap between the right side of my nose and the frame. It drives me crazy! And also my glasses rest on my nose when I am looking straight ahead but when I look down, my glasses don't fall off my face but rather rest on my ears. So when I rock my head back and forth while looking down, my glasses also move back and forth. It's really annoying whenever I need to look down.

  • @ThatGlassesGuy03

    @ThatGlassesGuy03

    3 жыл бұрын

    Sounds like this frame is way out of whack. I have a two fold response here as it likely has a lot going on. It will need returned to a standard alignment, and then the temples behind the ears readjusted to keep it from slipping forward as much when looking down. As for the bridge gap on the one side, if those changes don't fix it, it could be anything from anatomical difference (broken noses and deviated septum are fairly common issues that cause wierd fits to watch for when choosing a frame). For videos on those adjustments..... the bench one being more technical as it is optician aimed (only one like that). Loose behind ears: kzread.info/dash/bejne/o2Z7mdVskqjQeNI.html Return to standard: kzread.info/dash/bejne/f6aLlseriLDUiqw.html Hope this helps! :)

    Ive had this problem with every single pair of glasses i have had over the years from the moment i get them, no professional has helped me properly, all of them fail to see the issue and adjust the wrong things making them feel worse, they call me insane, and even my family has called me insane for having this issue as apparently nobody else can see it even when i can in the mirror, ive had nothing but problems with glasses and i hate them as a result, but i rely on them for my eyesight so i have to endure even when they make me wanna scream, ive tried adjusting them myself after i got fed up with the professionals, but i was on the wrong track, pushing both arms in, pinching them onto my face rather than letting them sit on top because that felt better than anything the professionals had done, now i know what to do more properly and i think you mightve helped me to fix my glasses problems

    I'm having this problem too, I just got new glasses after wearing contacts for 3 years and have put them on for 5 minutes and literally chucked them off my face more times than i can count already. It is seriously hell to wear them, maybe I should've gotten ones without nose pads cause I just cannot get comfortable. Doesn't help that they changed the prescription in one eye, but it shouldn't matter because I've worn contacts with the same changed prescription for over a month now. Dizzy as hell when I take them off too.

  • @ThatGlassesGuy03

    @ThatGlassesGuy03

    Tonberry, for starters, yes no nose pads would’ve been better purely for the fact they can sit closer to the eyes. The lenses can be made to more closely mimic contacts but their will still be something we call spectacle blur, but it’s a hell of a lot easier to adapt to. The catch is, most people aren’t gonna do this or even know what the problem is. And ultimately it still comes down to throwing the contacts in a drawer for a week and strictly wearing glasses from eyes open to eyes closed. 👌🏻 good luck out there, if I can ever help you with some lenses let me know, we’ve handled this for a lot of clients 😎

    It can definitely be a challenge to find that sweet sweet balance! I had a +9 recently, took a bit to hit the sweet spot of balance and not slipping. Getting the balance triangle right can be hard normally, add in front heavy lenses and it takes some real finesse! Sometimes it even has to go as far as add on nose pads or thicker ones if you already have pads. It's all a process and a literal balancing act 😅

  • @ThatGlassesGuy03

    @ThatGlassesGuy03

    4 ай бұрын

    Yes, even the flexible frames have specific points they’re meant to be adjusted at. Usually at the point the frame front connects to the temple arm :)

  • @zhangmingkai1983
    @zhangmingkai1983 Жыл бұрын

    If one side of the silicone nosepad is pressing at a much more pressure than the other side, should I expand or tighten that side of the temple leg (against the head)? It’s not the tightness of the hook at the back of the the temple leg, already loosen the angle all the way but it doesn’t affects.

  • @ThatGlassesGuy03

    @ThatGlassesGuy03

    Жыл бұрын

    Bring it in on the opposite side or out on the same side (assuming the pads are well adjusted) Correct the angle of the temple behind the ear has little affect on pressure on the nose (assuming it follows the contour of the skull and the bend is in the correct place of course, the bend too far forward can make a nose heavy frame quickly!)

    Hi Junnies!! Thats actually a great topic! If they have nose pads it's easy and I'll point you to another video.. if it's acetate, it's a more involved sculpting process and I would only recommend that done by the best opticians or frame craftsmen (truth be told.. even most opticians don't have a clue how to form or modify an acetate bridge)

    Hi! Question: I have a pair of glasses I'm hoping to have my rx lenses installed into. The frame is curved inward at the edges. This is causing the lens itself to touch my eyelashes when I wear makeup, feels like with an mm or two's difference this would not happen. Would the addition of my rx lenses straighten the frames out? I feel like this tends to happen when they install my lenses in the past, but not sure if I'm imagining things. I'm a -6 and get trivex. After 25 years of terrible fitting glasses I am getting picky with fit and investing more. Thanks in advance!

  • @ThatGlassesGuy03

    @ThatGlassesGuy03

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi Jay! Honestly it depends on who is installing the lenses. A -6 will be a very flat curve lens, and the bevel curve as well as proper sizing of the lens will determine how much the frame flattens out. I love they you've not been duped into the 1.67/1.74 high index train most -6 wearers get sucked into!! I would suggest asking about hivex though! It has better dimensional stability and overall nicer optics than trivex while also running a bit thinner 😁. Oh, tangent sorry... so, MOST especially with trivex will be making those lenses in a way that the curve isn't compensated and the lens often a hair big creating a very flared/flattened out frame. But flattening the frame typically won't improve lashes touching and flatter lenses make the problem itself worse. The bridge can be sculpted or modified to improve this, or the lenses can be ordered with more curvature to give a little extra room as well :)

    ugh, it's a more dififcult adjustment to nail down, and especially with some plastics that just don't want to hold the bend... believe it or not, it can even come down to being the lens on that one side. All that really needs to happen is the side that is sitting too far out that temple needs to come in, but going about getting there can be a pain for some frames.

  • @slow-living_03

    if the glasses has adjustable nose pads, how do u decide to adjust the nosepad or to adjust the temple legs? since pushing one side of the nosepad push that side of the glasses outwards, and pulling one side of the nosepad outwards pull that side of the glasses inwards, hence it has the same effect as what u mentioned on adjusting the temple legs right? would it make sense that if for example the situation that the left side of the glasses is driven more outwards that the right side, however the right side of the nosepad is already causing a lot more pressure on the nose bridge compared to the left nosepad, so it wouldn't make sense to pull the right side of the nosepad away (even though it has the effect of loosening pressure on the right side) as it would pull the right side of the glasses even more inwards, and it wouldn't make sense to push the left nosepads inwards (to have more pressure on the left side/ loosen the pressure on the right side) as it would cause the left side of the glasses to push even more outwards? so in this case it would be better to adjust the temple legs compared to the nosepads?

  • @ThatGlassesGuy03

    @ThatGlassesGuy03

    Жыл бұрын

    Not quite. Think of the nose pads as specifically only moving front position in one plane. The temples take care of the rest. So pads can move the frame up/down/left/right and the temples control tilt. Moving one temple in or out moves one side closer or further from the face. This also relieves pressure on the nose. I choose based on what’s needed. It’s very easy to get hyper focused on nose pads when they’re present, but once they’re set at the correct angles and the frame sitting at the proper height there’s not much that needs to be done with them.

Lastly, my situation is that for every specs i wear, the right nosepad would be touching the nose bridge with force, while the left nosepad would either be floating or touching very loosely. Would this requires me to adjust the temple legs first, instead of the nosepads? oh btw pls don't get offended, i don't mean to be rude, most optometrists that I've visited don't know their stuffs and can't help me get my spec fixed, and u seem to be one of the few that are more detailed and knows ur stuff, hence i have to ask for ur advice.

    Sorry to hear that! Sometimes getting the adjustment just right is difficult, add in masks and people generally being afraid of getting close and it increases the difficulty exponentially. Keep at them, or give the tips in this video a try! I find this problem to be one of the more annoying ones, but it is also an easy fix as long as it isn't down to one side having a weak spring hinge or material weak spot reducing clamping force on one side (in which case the frame is at fault and any adjustment to fix it will only compensate until it fails fully) 😶 I wouldn't expect that of a new frame though.

  • @ThatGlassesGuy03

    @ThatGlassesGuy03

    Typically they have built in adjustment points, but its hard to get enough pressure in the right place to do it without the right pliers. Same concept though, the side that is closest needs to come in towards the face more, or the side that is further away needs to go away from the face more (ex. Looking down at glasses, this first one would be close on the left side.) !_/ adjust the right side in. \_! Left side needs to go in /_! Left side needs to go out, !_\ right side needs to go out. :) typically it's more subtle and even hard to look at and see, but this is basically what's going on that needs corrected, most often from taking glasses off with one hand or laying on them 🙃

    The short answer is to move the nose pads towards the lens, but maintain their angle and position otherwise. Unless they're sitting too high as well, which would mean the pads also need spread apart more to lower it as well as bring it in 🙂 a distance of 8-12mm from the eyes for metals with pads is pretty normal, at the top range of that you can still usually sneak a finger in and rub your eyes (not good don't do it 🤣)

    It's tricky to get right, and also can fail if it's a mechanical failure of the frame (spring hinge weak/failing, broken hinge, weak connection, etc). But typically as long as both sides are even and touching the sides of the face with the same pressure this will be resolved 🙂. Occasionally it can be a misalignment at the frame front around the nose area as well, but that's fairly unusual to come across

    it's only silly if you dind't ask :) To some degree, but very very little, and it's easy to ruin them. That's why you generally won't see that suggested in any of my videos.

    As long as the glasses are sitting even and functioning well visually all good. We’re not perfectly symmetrical and an exaggerated smile exaggerates the features. :)

    I'll be revisiting plastic frame adjustments soon, thats been a pretty common question ok the adjustment series. The short answer is, if you're unsure find a professional to take care of it :). The longer answer is, there are a wide range of plastic materials out there, and their adjustability and heat requirement to do so varies a LOT (and why I've largely avoided posting any blanket video for "plastic frame adjustment" :) if there is a metal core, you're pretty safe to put some heat to it and do the adjustments like in this video, if you can't tell if there is a metal core, or don't see one at all, I would avoid making any changes there.

    How do I fix this for metal frames? My glasses fit in a way where they sit so low on my cheeks they rub it raw from the metal frame I assume. Do I need a different style?

    Just need to adjust the pad arms to move the frame up and out. Depending on your rx and lenses it may be too late for that 😬. I've got a video around here somewhere for nose pad adjustment. I'll dig it up for you in a bit 🙂 kzread.info/dash/bejne/q5OdrNGnYcq3l8o.html. This gets into it a bit 🙂
