Can we talk about how in one of the flashback scenes Miles looks *exactly* like Tom Cruises character in Magnolia?? Same outfit, hair, everything. And when you consider what that character was like, it explains a lot about Miles. Also he's dressed exactly like Steve Jobs in another flashback scene later on. Showing that he truly has no personality or tastes of his own and takes from others.

Rian's said in interviews that the idea came from Ed Norton and Jenny Eagan; when he found out about it apparently thought "Paul's gonna kill me". I'm so glad we got to hear the thoughts and insights of the "behind the scenes" crew. Hearing from the production designer was the most intriguing for me, especially to hear how they built the glass onion "room"! I love that they are giving the crew time to shine in these behind the scenes clips, cause i think the actors were amazing in this movie but my respect goes out to the entire crew & director who definitely put so much thought put into this entire film. Brilliant!

Janelle’s final scene is sooo good. Every time she acts, she radiates on screen. She blew me away in Hidden Figures (Taraji gets most of the well-deserved love for that movie but Janelle was phenomenal) and I’m just so obsessed with seeing her on film.

that and Moonlight both sold me that Janelle can act. I am happy to see her choosing her films wisely. Can't wait to see her turn as Josephine Baker and reuniting with A24 for the limited series on her. I know she will make Lynn Whitfield (who played Baker in the HBO TV movie) proud.

@@mith2946 Rian Johnson is the best murder mystery writer of our day. The top selling authors of all time are God (The Bible), Shakespeare, and then Agatha Christie, a murder mystery writer. If there’s a genre to win awards, it’s this one, and if there’s a movie to win in the genre, it’s this one.
@fernbear3950
Жыл бұрын
@@PartiallyC0rrect I agree that it was a really good movie, and I liked it a lot, like, a ton, and the raw and sheer artistic talent at/and/on display here is simply unbelievable/unreal. That said, for some reason, it didn't really "click" for me, and I'm not sure why. Maybe it was the "dumb"ness of the core mystery that maybe had potential but in the end is really hard to dress up as something it isn't, sort of a rotting core of a story at the inside of this abso-freaking-lutely gorgeous outer crystalline shell. Maybe that's it. And with _that_ said, I definitely want this director to go on doing more in more genres. The first was a true delight that did get a lot closer to "click"ing with me (and I think it pretty much mostly did!), but I'd rather have genre exploration and expansion than guaranteed mediocre hits each time, so the risk of Glass Onion was well worth it. Agatha Christie on the other hand...I never felt entirely robbed by the story when I read it. One of my greatest prides is figuring out ~20%-26% of a truly gnarly mystery (the "on the links" one, I think) with sheer note taking and Poirot -esque conjecturing. I'm very proud of that, and I enjoy the challenge of Christie knowing that there's a way to truly figure it out with the information given, but also that the story is a real challenge that is well worth my time and energy to invest in.

Even though Daniel Craig delivered an accent that was not on the page, it couldn't be more perfect. The dialogue is so very Shakespearean, or perhaps Oscar Wilde, that it needs a formality, and he picked the most formal American accent there is.

I must be missing something but that scene where everyone's on the dock in the beginning, why didn't the boat staff question an extra person not on the guest list, as well as have a vaccine dose and room key wristband for him? Surely the staff would have a guest list or a set amount of items. Maybe everyone was given a plus one and only Birdie used hers on Peg and the staff didn't want to question the guests (?) or I guess everything is explained by Miles being an idiot.
