I've been engraving glass for 30+ years, completely self taught as I've never known, or met anyone else who did it...no books, no videos, no formal, or even informal, instruction of any kind, strictly trial & error...lots of errors...Lol! Until now, all I've ever used was rough diamond burs because that's all I knew...all my shading is done by varying the pressure of the bit on the glass...but in this video, you've just taught me how I can vastly improve the quality of my work, which is already pretty dang decent...I had no idea what those stones & rubber bits could do for glass...no matter how much you know, or think you know, you can always learn more...you do amazingly detailed flowers...& I love your voice, it's very nice...new sub! 🖖🏿😎👍🏿

I'm just about to start engraving a fairly large peice in the back glass of the truck I'm currently building...I'm gonna go get some new stones & see if I can find some of those rubber ones too...I've been a professional artist for at least 30 years, I do much more than just glass...I'll use anything I can find that will make a mark on another surface to draw all sorts of pictures...I'm also a portrait artist, but I've never attempted a portrait on glass, but after watching the video where you did the Santa Clause portrait on a wine glass, I've got to try it! That turned out amazingly detailed! My first engraver was much like your first one, & it was heavier, harder to control & took way longer to accomplish anything...it took me a while before I found Dremel tools with flex shafts, & it started getting a lot easier & much better results...now I'll be able to further improve my efforts...as soon as I get done with breakfast, I'm heading to the store to find some more bits & get started on my truck glass...when that's done, I'm gonna try my first portrait! Thank you for posting your very inspiring work! Very beautiful stuff!

I know this video was uploaded a bit ago. Just wanted to say thanks for the inspiration for a gift for someone, and you have such friendly, beautifully stunning eyes!! After I gained my health back, the whites of my eyes brightened up dramatically, so now its something I tend to notice in people. Again, I appreciate the lesson and inspiration. You are so welcome! Thank you.
With colored pencils, you can layer or press harder to shade. With acrylic paint, you blend with or just use a darker color to shade. To hear your opening "the rougher it is the whiter it is, the more light it catches" blew my mind! It is so obvious and yet the opposite of how I'd approach it as a newbie, counter-intuitive because of the other artsy mediums I've played with. This video is lovely and I appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us. Liked and subbed ❤❤❤
