This is really cool! I love how they still use the water tower and put an observation deck on the top. Looks like a nice little area too. That elevator has to be intentionally slow, but that is still cool to see this glass elevator put on this water water.

I like quirky places like this. In the middle of nowhere, and an observation tower with an awesome view. It also looks like it's in the middle of a neighborhood?? Bizarre!!

That house across the street though😂 Selling point is that it is directly across the street from a beautiful park with landscape and water features, a playground, and a giant glass elevator

While you’re here in Illinois I’d like to see you film some of the elevators at the hotels here in Decatur or the chateau in Bloomington if you’d like, I’m pretty sure they are the same fixtures as this elevator

I also wonder if they needed more torque on that elevator, maybe that's also why it needs to be slow. But hey, that's just a theory I had. In addition to taking in the view as well.

I put this thing on 2x speed and it’s still unforgivingly slow

Oh yeah I almost forgot Since elevatours is all about being healthy we were walking up the spiral staircase to the top when we got up which is an interesting spiral staircase btw

@@stlelevators I suppose. There's an old Otis elevator here at the Westin Harbour Castle that is like this - very slow (maybe 200 FPM) for 38 stories and it's clearly for the view. I think the normal elevators are 800 FPM or so.

@@stlelevators Yes they do if cables snap or the brakes fail or other faulty mechanisms, they can also shoot upwards slamming into the top, I've heard in the past about these incidents!!
