MY glass bowl just shattered when I was cooking today. This is why I'm here. I've used glass cookware for many years and this never happened. People here , in this video, don't have much common sense. As for me, I am to blame. I got detracted while cooking and left the gas stove on HIGH where I usually put it down to medium/low. After a while I smell something burning. I ran to the gas stove and turned it off. I left it where it was and should have let it cool down before trying to scrape it with a wooden spoon. That's the mistake I made. I started to scrape it with the wooden spoon and I pressed it hard enough that it "exploded". Not hurt at all. But a lot of mess to clean up.

A few hours later went to unload the dishwasher and found it broken. For those people who say this cookware leaches lead- here's something from a website devoted to knowing about this cookware: "-Is vintage Visions cookware made with lead? No. The glass-ceramic material used to create VISIONS does not include lead or similar harmful metals, as a primary constituent. Visions cookware will also test negative for cadmium, mercury, arsenic, etc. The FDA began enforcing limits on leachable lead in 1971. This is over a decade before VISIONS was officially released in the USA. Additionally, the California law known as Proposition 65, dedicated to eliminating exposure to toxic chemicals in consumer products, was passed in 1986. VISIONS has been produced under strict guidelines since introduction. …and VISIONS is non-reactive to typical acids and detergents, unlike most ordinary cookware. It's a non-toxic and very safe choice."- leclair.vision/Info/

The old school glassware was fine. Modern baking glassware is made differently because... Meth Cooks. You need glass that can go from hot to cold and back and forth rapidly without breaking to make meth. CBS News: I can only think of three problems with glassware shattering. Number one: We have a lot of cheap weak products coming from China. Number two: The glassware that they're using is not made to be put inside a hot oven. Number three: Consumers don't know how to use the glassware properly. I was taught by my Mother to handle glassware coming out of the oven with dry oven mitts, and not to get anything cold or wet anywhere close to them. What do you expect? Babies having babies, absentee parents, and people that are too uneducated to teach their children anything. This is why we're having more and more problems in this world today. Yes, the manufacturers are at fault sometimes but not all the time. Logic dictates if you place a hot glass pan in cold water or on the counter (where you were making an ice cold drink) it will shatter. They just let the computer babysit their children for them, and then they're out there terrorizing other adults on the internet, and the things they do learn on the internet can be true or false. I myself find lies on KZread daily, and on other sites on the internet as well.

The law states any warning ⚠️ label, or legal document in general you can’t write it lower than 12, or 8 font it has to be readable or else it’s invalid, that warning label looked scandalous to small to read
how about the luminarc vitro glass??
nothing made nowadays is made quality like it used to...but this is scary ..i need to see if the pyrex i pout in a pressure cooker cracked or not.
I’m so done the Pyrex I’m making sure no one in my family uses Pyrex they are saying the material in the glass hasn’t changed I beg to differ! I didn’t do anything on the warning label and mines exploded after taking it out the oven! So random I would give it the benefit of the doubt if I miss handled the dish according to the warnings but I didn’t!
the sudden temperature change is "kind of" true, but not in the sense they think. I got my glass cookware right out of the oven and put it in the refrigerator, it broke the glass in the refrigerator but the cookware was without a scratch lol.

Why is he talking over her? We can't hear the information.
any updates...this is 10 years old....can we get a refund?
Definitely going to show this to my girls who are new cooks.
Now I’m glad I got my glass bakeware at the thrift store lol they’re from the early 1960s. They’re an absolute eyesore but they’re functional so I can’t complain.
I had it happen recently when I put a hot Pyrex bread pan on a room temp, glass countertop protector. No injuries, but loss of a stellar poundcake.
Don’t buy lowercase pyrex. The original PYREX is all uppercase. Original PYREX is made from borosilicate. Lowercase pyrex, common in the US, is made from lower quality sodalime. So beware.
My grandmother died at 92 and she had 6 pans in her kitchen. All of them were cast iron. She never saw the need to use anything else. Her cast iron dutch oven was used on the stove or pulled from the oven. I never once complained about her great cooking.
I accidentally turned on the wrong electric burner, and a clean empty Pyrex pan was sitting on the burner that got hot. It exploded and yes they pop quite forcefully when they go. Definitely uneven thermal expansion. Know your science

Visions glass pans don't explode. They are strong AF.

jokes aside are you serious about the fingers?
I just found my mom's old glass ware in shine boxes wrapped in newspaper. My wife wants to sell it all.
Breaking news: Failure to follow warnings and hazards can lead to injury. Wow! Thanks CBS!
Anyone who knows how to cook knows tis . It's common knowledge that if glass cookware goes from hot to clod in a short pierod it will explode .

itsmeluvele that’s what we learnt in school
Never put cold water while is hot
The old stuff is way better. And it's thinner -- the new ones weigh a ton.
They are correct, we used a glass dish in an oven at a rental place, and it exploded all over the oven. WE did not do anything wrong. It was just placed in the oven and 20 minutes later... explosion. It is different glass for sure.
So no pan is safe to use....wtf are we supposed to use then.
OMG her hair is amazing
PYREX ( France ) and Pyrex ( USA ) are not the same !
Well I prepare meat, literally grilling meat on borosilicate glass, on stove direct fire. Just low first 20 seconds then you can set it to high. Dont try this on soda lime glass tho. ONLY Borosilicate glass.
PYREX and pyrex are not the same brand or the same type of glass. PYREX is the good one.
happened to use like 10 times this year, im done
A glass dish broke in half in my microwave.
Bakeware, or "breakware"?
They just need to start making kitchenware with borosilicate again.
Yikes just purchased two pretty glass pots for boiling.
Ever put a hot coffee pot under cold water.
Can that guy stop cutting that woman off. Jeez.
I think borosilicate glass is clear, not bluish
All that from china
Chick with the green top is absolutely beautiful...
They are lying. There is nothing healthier and that some don't like, who have evil intentions.
Corning Visions glassware is just about perfect. Look it up! You can take it from the freezer to the stove and it won't break! It is inert and lasts forever.

In order to make it harder to manufacture methamphetamine, they have made glass in recent years without these special properties.
I didn't look for warnings it's an oven dish 🤣
I don't cook anything in glass because of the way cooling and heating affects solid things. Glass technically isn't solid and temperature changes (high heat) will cause it to shatter. happened to me waaay back in the day. Glass cookware is nice, but I'd rather use glass to eat in, drink, or store food in.
DUH!!!!!!!!! That is all common sense, everything gets made such a big deal of nowadays....Pyrex and Anchor Hocking have been used for generations and thus have become part of family traditions and ultimately part of the American culture...like others have said they have no problem telling use to use toxic non stick pans and plastic in the kitchen...This is ridiculous...treat your glassware right and cherish it!!!
😂🤣🙃😂😂. Beware of the glass monster MUAAHHHHHH
PYREX SHATTERS, GET OXO OR NEOFLAM.
Who would remember all the donts? Elderly, what? Teenagers, huh?
thermal shok it is something that is in de wearning....so..
Karen said I didn't look for a warning it's an oven dish." Perhaps all the more you should look in to warnings because it's an oven dish! 🤣 stupidity kills... it does...
Cool it off in the oven
DONT use if You DONT have common sense!!!!!!!
now cooking seem scary for me, let's go eat out instead then, problem solve
Do not put water on hit class simple science people
It’s all call common sense, So I’ll use and continue using my glass pots and pans.

Ok thank you . Won’t ever buy these again

Get the vintage ones on Ebay, they are using a cheaper glass now and they are not durable. The original can handle thermal shock.
People are so dumb.....
I'm sure it has nothing to do with being made in China.
its always the governments job to fix a problem.. damn people do you still suck your thumb?
Mind your own damn biz, I hate govt control !
liar!
Well dont fugen bake just kook
Chinese made..
seems like the glassware is not the problem...seems to be people who use things without knowing or caring to read and follow use instructions....seems to be a case of idiots not using common sense
What rubbish!!!! Take a glass dish out of the oven and put it on a puddle of cool water. SURPRISE!!! It breaks. @ 1:50 "We were surprised by the FORCEFULNESS in which this glass broke." Ummm, yeah, I expected a much slower, kind of slo-mo forcefulness.
