I just realized that the workers desk tops are made to be eye level (or chin level), so they don't strain their backs and necks.

Every Glashutte Original watch is manufactured in house, Glashutte has its own Manufactory, Museum, School with apprenticeship program, manufactures all of its own tools in house, and finally Manufactures all complete dials at its own dial facility. Glashutte has my respect.

If you come to Glashütte, and you just don't only want to visit the world famous Watch Museum, or you are invited to visit one of the watch companies, forget to try to stay there overnight. It is impossible. There's just one guesthouse (or, better said, a 'youth hostel-deluxe'), with only 7 rooms. I once took part in a weekend-watch seminar at the State Watchmaker School of Glashütte and was lucky to get a room there. When making the booking over the cellphone, the owner told me not to forget to bring my own food for breakfast, because there's no food provided at the guesthouse, nor any other food-store, or even a bakery offering breakfast on weekends. Luckilly, there is one good restaurant open on weekends for lunch and dinner. But I had to make a reservation because it's the one and only place to go and it was fully booked on Friday and Saturday evening. Basically, the whole village says: NO long-term visitors! Visitor, go away as quick as possible! When I had to leave the guesthouse to walk to the Watchmaker-School to attend the seminar in the early morning, it was kind of spooky, not a single person on the streets....😮

Certainly love the Panoreserve and Panomaticlunar, but beyond that there’s just something so cool and slick about the styling choices and logo. Then there’s this video to show us all how next level their workmanship is.

Those artisans of such magnificent achievements are very exceptionally talented and dedicated artists, the only sorrow I feel about those amazing watches is that a great majority of it will appear on the wrists of rich criminals, corrupt politicians, robber banksters, drug dealers and their likes, while there is no way that a decent average working individual can dream of having one of them.

I managed to aquire 100 assorted ETA movements, kits,& parts assortments 30 years ago, so @ 71i will have enough ETA material for the rest of my life. The Swatch Group have spoiled the reputations of so many famous brands. To use ETA in place of in house brands is cheating the buying public who are often paying vast quantities prices for their watches, thinking they are buying a watch with the manufacturers own movement . When i am asked by potential new buyers i tell them which brands are owned by Swatch & advise them to look @ other brands. The only Swatch brand that is in house is Glasshute from Germany.all good wishes, god bless Your fellow Watchmaker ,John Anderson.

Why stop there? Work by candle power. Only use stone tools why your at it. What level of technology is acceptable to qualify for being hand made? Even the watchmakers who do make things with hand powered tools have all kinds of jigs and fixtures for making the parts. Are those too advanced to qualify as hand made? The point is that even with all of the precision in the tools and manufacturing the watches are still hand fitted and finished.

I am a Certified Master Horologist. I have not been impressed with ANY German made movements that have come through my shop. To be fair I must admit that I have seen only a few, but the last one I saw was far from close to being in time and the man had just gotten it. I suggested to my customer that he return it to the supplier....so buy at your own risk. The watch is certainly warrantied for a period of time, so if you buy one, I would suggest that you immediately hack the movement to see how close the time is. Rolex standard is no more than 5 seconds per day fast and the Glashutte should do as well.

I appreciate at face value that you have an advanced certification as a watchmaker and therefore, respect your opinion. I was struck by your reference to a “Rolex standard” and no mention that other manufacturers also use the COSC standards in Switzerland as well as luxury watch manufacturers in other countries to include Germany; albeit, under a different national organization and different name, but still adhering to ISO 3159. Your comment seemed a quite severe and I felt, unfair indictment of manufacturers other than Rolex, certainly to the casual observer that may be watching this video.

That is the logic of a child; the complete lack of ability to compare like-with-like, understand nuance, discern detailed craftsmanship, understand both the human psyche and that which it drives within us shows that you have but barely scratched the surface of what makes both man and timepieces "tick". Your comparison is not only horrendous, it simply doesn't work. Apply that same simplistic logic to anything else and the differences may become more apparent to you. yes, very well made video, like the storytelling and all the cool pictures. but talk about first-world-problems, I can't feel any sympathy for anyone that has that much money to throw away on a watch, this guy needs a hobby, perhaps watch some watch repair videos and try his hand at watch repair, something that requires using his obviously good god given brain, or maybe even gardening, but collecting multi-thousand-pound watches isn't a hobby its total F*'ing insanity.
