GLASGOW to ALICANTE: Getting settled on the Costa Blanca. World's noisiest hotel?

I badly needed some R+R, some vitamin D on my skin, so a quick trip to the Mediterranean and the city of Alicante on the Costa Blanca. Join me as a fly from Edinburgh and get off the Alicante airport bus at the wrong stop, completely lost and disorientated.

Very nice room in Alicante. I like it when the bathroom has a window which opens. I like to let the moisture out after a shower. Scott, you can use earplugs if too much noise from the street dusrupts your sleep. 🌴🌴

Cracking vid mate and Alicante looks gorgeous, especially love the smooth shiny pedestrianised streets! Looking forward to the next couple of instalments. Although when you said you're going out for dinner at 7pm, I immediately thought hmmm that doesn't fit in with Spanish eating times (as I got caught out with recently) so well done finding a paella! Have a great New Year when it comes, and I guess you'll be at St Mirren for the big game on Tuesday!

I probably stood out like a sore thumb wandering around at 7pm looking for a meal. Those street patterns started to look a bit 3D if you starred at them too long. Yep, I'll be at the game. I'm not sure St. Mirren will be able to replicate the crushing 3-0 defeat against Aberdeen.

Edinburgh airport, I used to really dislike it cos of the rip off of the trams going that one extra stop, but I just get the city ticket and get off the stop before and walk the rest. Same with Glasgow airport, if getting a taxi, get it to the airport travelodge and just walk across the car park to the airport.

Oh dear, my experience of accommodation Alicante has always been plagued with noise as well. It seems it's better to spend a bit more and to go away from the center, perhaps up along San Juan beach on a high floor in a quiet tower block outside summer season. The further north you go up the coast, the nicer the scenery becomes as well (except for Benidorm).

Slightly quieter than our visit in July and it was warmer! There are lots of restaurants in the back streets around the Cathedral, but in winter it may be they don't open. What did amaze me is the main road along the front between the marina and the promenade is open. It was closed in July and all of it was being dug up, traffic was horrendous as a result, I'm amazed its all finished and back open as it was a serious civil engineering project. I don't know if you ventured into the marina and casino area, but it is frankly a wierd and unwelcoming complex of bars and restaurants.

There are plenty restaurants in the old town just back from the esplanade although they also have folk trying to entice you in. The many Brits that fly to Alicante Airport head for Benidorm are missing out on something a bit more authentically Spanish as they bypass the city. Hope 2024 will see you continue your adventures and sharing them with us.

Damn Scott, 36 hours without sleep isn't good for you! Less caffeine mate, you'll probably find yourself sleeping through an earthquake! 😴

Hi Steve, I get my music from Epidemic Sound, and although I acknowledge the source, I don't make a note of the track name or artist. Sorry.

Many thanks for yoyr support. It's greatly appreciated. I've not been to Sardinia, although it's somewhere I'd love to go. I visited Gib many years ago and it's back on my bucket list. Maybe in 2024??? Thanks again.
