Gladiator Mojave on Holy Cross (4x4 off-road) [ep 82]
On this episode we take on one of the most extreme Jeep trails in Colorado; Holy Cross.
When Sam posted in the Colorado Jeep Club about a run to Holy Cross, we couldn't resist. It's rated a 9/10 so naturally I was pretty curious why the rating was so high. And, with some historical interest to boot, this wasn't a trail we were going to miss.
Simply put, it was the toughest trail we've completed to date; but the true heroes of the day were Sam and Kayla. With years of off-road experience under the belt and a previous run of Holy Cross, they knew the terrain, and they knew it well.
We were in good hands as we made the epic adventure to Holy Cross City, but it would not come without a cost.

No way getting around that long wheelbase. If anything, the Mojave comes from the factory taller, so that should be an advantage there.
One spotter at a time.
Saw you the other day at cloverdale mine. Disappointing trail. No obstacles at all and the gate to the mine was closed. Wouldn’t have found your channel if it wasn’t for that though. Either way, I’m doing holy cross next weekend, Labor Day weekend. I’ve watched a ton on it but great to watch your video too.

Hah thanks man! Yeah this trail should be on your bucket list it's a CO classic.
Good job Nick! That trucks fitting you like a new appendage. I think for what we're asking them to do, that's how it has to feel. Now for nice steel bumpers and rear bed rocksliders. My wife (twice separated (not divoriced- long story) offers to be my spotter, and I'm almost thinking... I can show her where I want to put my tires- then I remember she's blind as a bat and refuses any opportunity to get glasses... Anyways, you're bringing respect to the Mojave owners with your videos. I'm sensing less and less hostility towards Mojave's being a valid jeep buying choice. Just don't wait so long between videos, 'k?

Yep, Rock sliders. Do you have detachable sway bars in the front? Helps both front tires on the ground without front lockers. I'm thinking about doing the detachable sway bars and adding Front lockers to my Mojave now after watching this. Overall looked like a fun trip. Thank you for sharing this video.

This was a couple years ago. Back then yeah we had the Apex autoLYNX. Still using those to this day with no issues. Front locker has always been on the list it's just a bit of a rabbit hole because I'd want to the front axle trussed if we move to a locker. Thanks for watching!

Hey Ben! We've got a review video here on the channel that talks in detail, but in short; we just needed something to tow behind our RV and the Mojave is what they had. If we had it to do over again, we probably would have gone Rubicon but we had no idea we'd love rock crawling so much. The ride comfort of the Mojave though, is pretty hard to beat.

@@FarFromOrdinary wow, that makes this even more impress that it was only a 1.5” lift! I’ve been flirting with the idea of trading my Power Wagon for a Mojave. I’ve owned a JT Rubicon before and I miss the maneuverability on the trails. Plus it’s just a tad bit more economical. But I test drove a Mojave the other day and I really like how it drove and how solid it feels. I also like that it is available with a manual transmission. I was thinking of getting the 2” AEV spacer lift, slapping some 37s and calling it good pretty much. Love your content! I was browsing through it last night! Lol. You’re also selling me on that sarge green or whatever it’s called. I’m not really a fan but it looks good on yours for some reason. Lol.

Just the fact that you took your Mojave on one of the hardest trails in Colorado and the only damage you had was cosmetic and probably could have been avoided, speaks volumes to how capable the Mojave and Gladiator are in general. There’s no way I’d even consider that trail in the Power Wagon.
