Glacial Rivers in Iceland - Drone Photography of River Patterns
During the summer of 2022, I spent a lot of time in the Icelandic Highlands. I sometimes went on my own adventures but primarily I spent time there leading photography workshops. One of the most popular spots to photograph on these photo workshops is one of the biggest braided glacial rivers, located somewhere deep in the highlands. The first part of this video tackles how I approach photographing these river patterns using my drone. In the second part I show you how I piece together everything into one high resolution shot.

Very nice Jeroen. If anyone reading this is in two minds, your ebook is an excellent read for any budding drone photographer. You have reminded me that I still have a pano from my last trip that I didn’t stitch yet. The question now is, will my little mini3pro be up to the job of Greenland?

Had a chance to take a workshop with Jeroen. His droning skills are next level (so is his sense of humor)

First!b(actually second) but now I am gonna watch the video haha
Are you using ND filters?
Hey Jeroen, Quick question please; When you’re shooting the rivers and you’re moving around looking for different braids, how do you know which pano shots go together? Do you shoot something different between the groups to break them up? Thank you!

Good question! I usually have a few ways of differentiating them. One is to take a "random" photo in the after your pano (for example by tilting the camera up). Another is to take a non-AEB shot in-between. Finally, if I forget to do those, I also look at the timestamps. Generally there is more time between different pano's than between shots as a part of a pano.
