I heard some testimonies from people businesses growing because the small business sent free product to content creators, and they post or advertise and they have had success because of it. A lady I watch, took a small budget opportunity, and got several more with that. Some decorators on KZread talked about changes they have made because of the economy and that is keeping opportunities coming. Some people businesses have grown because of it. It is up to each individual and situation.

Yes, but that’s a different situation than what I’m referring to in this video. I’m referring to content creators and potential clients coming to us for free decorations. Not small businesses going to content creators for exposure. It’s one thing to collaborate with a content creator for exposure. Yes, in that case, we could offer something small. And yes, it could help grow the business. It’s another thing for people to just expect free decorations because they’ll post pictures for their following.

Now imagine that the same person who goes around as a foodie, she probably uses the same line to get free food at restaurants. I’ve heard of celebrities who refused to pay for services so I’m not even surprised smh. I’m learning this boundary even with friends.

Excellent video. So many valid points. I can't believe the audacity that some people have to ask for free things. They don't walk into Tiffany and Co asking for a free diamond bracelet saying they will post the bracelet on their social media pages. They aren't going into Party City asking for free decorations, saying they'll post it on the Gram. We micro biz owners don't have extra resources to be giving our products and services away for free.

You make some valid points. I been asked to do free decorations exchange for the decorations to grow my inventory . after the party bc I’m a small business just starting out myself and got no other leads one bc they never got me the decorations needed to make event successful or was they on time with the stuff and I only had 30mins to setup for 50 plus ppl party

Was that for your family though? When I first started, I would agree to decorate for my family and friends. Then I would keep the decorations. But that was a little different because I was paying for all of the decorations, doing all of the prep work, and setting everything up. So, it was only right that I kept the decorations 😜

I was approached by an athlete with a huge following on Instagram and she asked me to draw up a proposal, mockups and offer decorations for FREE for a dinner. She said several celebrities will attend this event and they'll post reels and stories showcasing my work. I just ignored and didn't reply her message.

he'll no am I so desperate to go waste my time for a post. I will rather decorate my house to post. or sleep. please my fellow designers stop being so desperate. event decoration is the most tideous work ever. sourcing, preping, packing, running around, loading, and the actual work. what about tearing down and weeks of cleaning and body pain. are you thinking about all of this. no I don't want to charge cheap anymore. I want to be paid for my value. if you won't book me is okay I will sleep and improve my health. those doing diy end up spending more money than what you would have charge them. don't be desperate, is killing the industry. don't let anyone take advantage of you. if they send inspiration pictures do proper calculations before sending a quote including your transportation and tearing down and cleaning add all up.
