I smell cherry and caramel in it, although they are not in the list of notes on fragrantica. So in my nose: Cherry, tuberose, caramel, it's wonderful !! I smell no Vetiver at all in it. It's for my husband the best perfume I own out of 40. Classy seductive perfume and has great projection and longevity !

I just ordered 80ml of L’interdit Intense EDP and they included a free sample of the original L’interdit EDP with it. I tried them last week at the store and found them rather similar but I was unsure which one seemed to have stronger projection as I had one on my wrist and one in my neck. I prefer one with stronger sillage and assuming the intense would be stronger, I ordered a large bottle of it. I also just loved the beautiful black bottle. Black is my favourite shade and I was in the search for a signature fragrance after trying so many over the years and thought this was perfect.

Coming from Brazil I’m very familiar with the smell of natural patchouli, and it smells a lot like it, love it 🥰 In general I just love Givenchy perfumes, they are soo unique and different I think they’re willing to do exotic scents as no other brand is, just because the general public might not like it. But they do the different and it succeeds.

Thanks for your great review. I was excited when I first saw the packaging that is similar to the a 1980's bottle. I only sampled the 1980's version. It was a rose/jasmine fragrance, in the same family as the original L'Air du Temps. I just recall a very fresh and rich vibe. It had more depth than L'Air du Temps, so possibly some real oakmoss from back then (not patchouli). It also had that transparency that L'Air also has, or had. It was stunningly beautiful. It was never ever a white floral. I agree with your observations. It was a huge letdown to see that bottle and hope they finally got it right. But then to be so very disappointed with the juice. This just reinforces my disappointment in Givenchy perfumes. The label was sold to Coty or some other mega brand in the late 90's. Givenchy perfumes have never been the same since. Love your reviews.

I tested it when launched while in Vienna. It seemed very nice, modern and chic. It’s a shame they didn’t keep any resemblance to the original (as Chanel did with N5 Eau Premiere and L’Eau). By the way my granny wore the original L’Interdit and it was like the classic N5 with some sweet strawberry. It was gorgeous like Audrey Hepburn! This new one, opens on my skin like a berries compote, then tuberose and neroli take center stage but as you said, they are wrapped by those woods, very dry woods that make it enter the unisex territory. I have always wanted a tuberose fragrance but none of them had a good chemistry with my skin. L’Inderdit was the only exception and I like it very much. A safe perfume, nothing groundbreaking or spectacular, just a nice thing, chic, modern very balanced, not a sugar and spices bomb, not a screaming floral, not an ambroxan dominated fragrance, just a nice thing in the middle. I ended up buying both concentrations (edt and edp) and for sure will wear them on weekdays when I want to feel...in the middle. The advertising says this is the “dark” side of chic...well I must disagree. L’Inderdit has nothing to do with dark or even “forbidden”. It’s like making a movie with my beloved Princess Diana saying “the evil princess”. Pure misleading words and a catchy name for a pretty, un offensive, modern-chic woody-floral that is like a springtime morning but miles away from being “dark”.

When I spray it, it smells to me like a bunch of fresh raspberries with a hint of vanilla! I was blown away by the raspberry note as I did not expect this at all. Then I start smelling white flowers, a bit toned down compared to what they are usually like, but the raspberry note stays there until the dry down. It does have something woody, even slightly masculine in it. I love this perfume but I am also curious about the original one.

My mom has an ounce of the original extrait. It's quite soft skin scent and super powdery (violet, iris, orris root, and tonka bean no wonder). Sandalwood and powder is the most prominent in the original, not floral at all. Moderate sillage, last around 8h -12h.

I've read that the name came about when Givenchy suggested to Audrey Hepburn that it be named after her. She said, "I forbid it," and so hence "L'Interdit"... But this could be one of those legends. Excellent descriptions as always! Glad you addressed that this is a relaunch; curious to see if you do review the vintage, as it's one I've never encountered but do have a curiosity about.

I'm surprised that you don't smell the fruitiness in the beginning though! It's a fruity floral for me if anything. Except I don't smell peach or a pear. I smell strawberries. I've tried wearing it here in the Philippines and because of our humid weather, this perfume seems like a fragrant fabric conditioner that stays on my clothes all day. There are even people asking me what my detergent or fabric conditioner is. Guess it's because of the "woody" note that I'm detecting. Though in the air, they tell me I smell like a bubblegum.
