Great idea. A busy hen is a happy hen. My working girls always make me think of the Little Red Hen growing wheat story!

It’s been so long since I thought of that story. I’ll have to tell it to our daughter.

We hang kale with the rope and they love it. Boredom buster.

ILL LET THEM FREEZE ABOUT HALF WAY(IF THE FREEZE TOOHARD THE CHICKENS WONT COME BACK EVEN AFTER THEYVE SOFTENED ) MY BIRDS LOVE THEM! ITS A GREAT,INEXPENSIVE WAY TO HELP COOL YOUR FLOCK. ITS ODD,BUT CHICKENS CAN TOLERATE COLD FAR EASIER THAN THE HOT WEATHER. ALL THE BEST TO YOU!

Fun idea! I know I've seen your ladies up on the garage roof etc. Do you clip their wings? If not, how often do they hop the fence?

Oak Knob Farm We don’t clip wings. Every once in a while one will hop up and over the electric fence, but it’s only maybe once a week and usually the same Orpington.

Hey ! i have a question so i have 7 chickens and once one of the chickens did not lay in the nesting box they layed on the ground they all cracked it ands ate some (they havent done that ever again) but do i have to do something for that ?

Hey weak shells can be solved by feeding your chickens their egg shell but make sure to crush it up so they don't see it was an egg because they will start eating their eggs if you give them the shells resembling an egg. If the egg cracks and the chickens are around they will eat the egg. It isn't bad for them but yeah you lose an egg. Also it may be rodents or other animals getting at them. To fix this make sure to grab the eggs every morning so the rodents don't become accustomed to eating their eggs while they sleep

I'm from Los Angeles. Maybe these chickens need therapy for their boredom?
