“Give Us a King”

www.truthforlife.org || By: Alistair Begg - (1 Samuel 8:1-22) As Samuel aged and his succession plan failed, Israel clamored for a new leader. No longer wanting to be distinct, they chose to imitate the behavior of other nations and asked to trade God’s rule for that of an earthly king. While God granted Israel’s request, Alistair Begg explains, it led to great suffering, revealing our need for a perfect king. Only Christ, the one true King, reigns in absolute love and justice--and His rule will never disappoint us.

The 'King of Kings' is also on the take. He takes my 'Heart of Stone' and gives me a 'Heart of Flesh.' He takes away the 'wrath of God' and gives me the 'peace of God.' He takes away my sins and gives me His righteousness. I am truly blessed by this 'give and take' of King Jesus.

When a king hasn't any generals to call to arms with defense for the worldly kingdom they bar. Then the king with a knights heart must stand for honor and justice, even if he stands alone in the flesh.

It's encouraging to know....that one of Pastor Begg's caliber struggles with the same tendencies as I do. "When I'm displeased about something all I want to do is tell everyone how displeased I am." "Praise God ! ...it's not just me !" But then....I spend my night time prayer telling God how sorry I am.....and find myself apologizing for the same things....every....single....night..... wondering if I will ever be done with that and be able to move on to the next issue. I don't mind so much that there will always be one issue or another to deal with while walking this road to Glory......but it would be nice if I could just see a little bit of progress...."once" in awhile.... < :-[ ...it is indeed wonderful....that the God who saves us....keeps us ! \o/

Sounds like you're in the struggle brother. But Glory to Christ He has overcome and won the victory for us. Stay in the Word!
