Terrific doco - we (Schtung) owed a lot to the Enz, they paved the way. Happy memories of their Wellington visits, Phil dropping by our house on The Crescent, lunch at The Matterhorn in Cuba St. chatting about 'these Supertramp guys'.

The Enz, The Swingers and The Fensters have always been in my top ten kiwi bands. Guess that makes me a Phil fan by osmosis alone. :)

I'm from Liverpool England and love most progressive rock and have to say that I've just got on the mental notes album and think it kicks ass, best song is spellbound, the singing is like family and the guitar and bass line is very similar to what floyd were doing on animals

I loved the Swingers, and loved the songs. I also thought Phil's voice had amazing range and was completely unique. I remember a longer doco on the Swingers that used to be on KZread, although in bad quality. Would love to see it again.

I recall the video in question. It was something the “The Making of Practical Jokers”. I wonder what has happened to it?

"Like I'd had an affair and broken the magic circle." That's exactly what happened with the Strokes. Something definitely breaks when one goes off and records a solo.

Bones is playin a Kramer aluminum neck bass...people loved those for a minute in the 80s...I think they sound like crap and the neck is so heavy you let go of the neck and it dives to the ground:-(
