È una pazzia far confronti questo o quello è più bravo di un'altro, qui SABBATINI è dal vivo in concerto e con tanta facilità arriva al do alto ben lanciato e tenuto facendo una piroetta su se stesso, un do. di alto spessore per intensità e brillantezza, certamente non ha nulla da invidiare ai PAVAROTTI, KRAUS, FLORES... SABBATINI era così agli inizi carriera e ha mantenuto le stesse performance fino alla fine, le sue "A TE O CARA... CHE GELIDA MANINA.... SALUT DEMEURE... (dove fa un diminuendo sul do acuto da pazzia) reggono il confronto eccome ai grandi sopra citati. Non riesco a capire il perché non abbia avuto la stessa notorietà di altri tanto osannati ma meno dotati vocalmente e tecnicamente nel repertorio puramente lirico(DOMINGO.. CARRERAS) senza nulla togliere alla loro brillante carriera . Il mio parere non conta nulla, ma è giusto dare il giusto tributo ad un artista ed ad una voce poco celebrata..

The high notes and breath-control are gifts that were the foundation of his many talents. If his talent with the double-bass is on the level of his singing ... ?

Sabbatini de los mejores tenores que he escuchado y no entiendo cómo fué que no alcanzó la fama que otros si pudieron, escucharlo a él es increíble siempre está cantando con su hermosa voz , hay algunos que se nota que en vez de cantar gritan , vocean.

Sabbatini fut en effet un excellent ténor, mais je pense que son physique du type "Méphistophélès", à malheureusement joué contre lui, surtout au moment ou l'image à pris le pas sur le pur talent, et c'est vraiment dommage, car il méritait bien mieux.

Pavarotti has killed listening to anyone else attempting this piece....no one has ever or probably will ever come close.

Pavarotti could not sing the C when he grew older... I have 2 videos where he sings lower than C. La boheme and Il trovatore... B natural... I like his voice better though, when he is older. Color is more beautiful then... Sabbatini is great ...

As he was singing this, and magnificently he was, I thought maybe this role was too lyric for his voice. What a fabulous instrument. Then I read how he is suffering now. What a shame as that was wonderful!

exelente tenor... versatil...tecnica muy buena timbre muy hermoso buen ataque del agudo. para que hablar del apoyo .. y el diafragma como lo maneja .. les recomiendo escuchar su interpretacion de salut demeure chaste et pure .. como saca un pianissimo despues del agudo.. .. y canta de donizetti a puccini.. callaito ""sin alarde de la mercadotecnia que revienta cantantes en este ambiente.

Lo he escuchado cantar Salut Demeure más de veinte veces, y es una de las mejores grabaciones en vivo de ese aria. ¡Era un gran tenor!

Can anyone explain how a tenor with such sterling qualities didn't become as famous as others with lesser qualities? He was a good looking devil and sang like an angel. Has he stopped singing to switch to conducting? So many singers are here today and gone tomorrow.

From this song, you could sense some of early trace of using too much voice box instead of using body. The continued stress to the vocal cord over time shortened the longevity of beautiful singing.

@@SuperJasonable How ignorant! Nobody can sing a do filato without an excellent technique, singing sul fiato. Sabbatini is an extraordinarily talented man, with a solid musical background who always dreamead about conducting and saw singing as a shortcut to it. He is now conducting and helping young singers with his expertise of singing and can still sing very well. You can find an interview from 1997, barely ten years after his debut, where he states that his goal was conducting and that he would do that in more ten years, i.e., 2007, precisely the year of his retirement. His only defect is not his fault: he lacks a beautiful timbre in my opinion. Otherwise, what an artist! And what a serious and prepared professional! He sang his repertoire, never tried to sing roles which didn't suit his voice.

It’s not that his voice isn’t beautiful, his timbre is not distinctive enough, not immediately recognizable. Great singer, though.

Here is a FULL Lyric Tenor (Gedda was another) who could sing this style of music (At least how it is usually sung nowadays). Florez is certainly a contender & I did hear his Carnegie Hall debut but besides his remarkable high voice, I found that there was little to interest me in his singing. Perhaps I should see & hear him in comic opera. There maybe he shows more dramatic personality. I have no idea of this factor in regards Sabbatini OR how he if istill singing these days (2016) but his FAUST aria is certainly right up there with Björling, Di Stefano, & Gedda with an even better dimuendo, for whatever thats worth.
