Gitane Demone is commonly recognized as a former member of Christian Death, but also known for her solo albums and her S/M imagery and shows.
Demone began her career on the Southern California new wave scene of the early 80s as a member of the trio Pompeii 99. The group later joined with singer Rozz Williams to make up a new incarnation of his band Christian Death, where Demone remained before relocating to Amsterdam and mounting a solo career in 1989, adopting an increasingly torchy sound over the course of EPs including "A Heavenly Melancholy" and "Lullabies For A Troubled World". In 1995, "Dream Home Heartache" re-united Gitane DeMone and Rozz Williams after almost a decade of seperation. The duet toured extensively in Europe and North America, in support of this CD. Demone next collaborated with Mark Ickx under the banner of Demonix, issuing "Never Felt So Alive"; the solo Am I Wrong? followed in 1998.
Gitane Demone, now living in Los Angeles and playing live from time to time, is working on her long waited new album.

Gitane had written that song about me, I never understood what it was about, as I wasn't that troubled... It was a great time in our lives. Recorded in a bunker underneath the Vondelpark bridge, Amsterdam. In another song of that single, you can hear the rumbling of the trams above. NB

Saw her in Portland back in 2001, intimate little Halloween gig at the old rose theater everyone was in costume the bands and all, amazing show and an absolutely amazing talented woman wow!

I wish I had seen CD. did you play Tucson in the last couple years like they said you were going to? you guys played here allot back in the night. always loved your music very much; our scene, and thank you very much for your great voice it is soothing to our sleep as well as waking hours

im not sure what perfect pitch is but i was always wondering when you encounter such a great voice as hers how do you measure it? we sang in choir when we were kids they said alto soprano and basso but im not sure. there was also this intro to opera teacher who actually sang opera and she would do a simple thing on the piano an ascending scale meaning a low flat tone then higher and higher gradually as she sang each time LA BAY DA BAY ME PO To....it was voice practice and thats about where it stopped for us.
Sad.
