    I picked one of these up a couple weeks ago; I already had the full size. The PI does balance better as you say; feels great. Love these guns. The lowers are 100% the same; as you said the slide length and sights are the only differences. Good video.

    It is the ammunition that lax ammo is made by freedom which is notoriously low powered ammo and since that is a Turkish gun they are designed around nato ammo which is hot 124 until they get broke in and those do require a break of n of about 2-500 rounds judging by the ejection it’s the ammo hope this helps

    Yeah its bascislly the Compact version of a standard full size Hi-Power. They both Operate and run like A dream. Have em both and they'll Eat about any jhp,fmj,or ball ammo you feed it,with no problems. If you ever get the chance to get ahold of the regards MC model..their basically A M9 beretta clone. They run flawlessly.

    Back in the day. The original Browning Hi Power didn't like having a full 13 rds in the magazine. In fact the British Army loaded 12 rds in the mag with one in the chamber when going into action. Otherwise it was 12 and chamber empty when in garrison. I load my Girsan with 13 and one in the chamber.

    I have an Original Browning Hi Power Practical that I absolutely love. I bought it new in the early 90's and have been happy I did ever since. Everyone that has shot that gun has wanted to buy it. They point very well and shoot accurately. I once killed a porcupine at 80 long paces unsupported with it. A very good friend of mine has the Girsan MC P35 target model and I shot it well. It's accuracy, reliability, fit and finish are all excellent and he's very happy with it I don't have experience with the shortened slide variant of the Hi Power, but just like with the 1911, the shorter you make the slide the more difficult it becomes to achieve 100% reliability. There is less room and less time for the rounds to come up from the mag and feed into the chamber and the angle becomes steep and critical very quickly. It's new so I'd return it to the factory as it should run. Sometimes a little polishing of the feed ramp helps, sometimes the mag spring weight can be changed to increase or decrease the time it takes the round to rise prior to the slide grabbing it. Sometimes the recoil spring weight can be increased or decreased to increase reliability.

    Even though your CZ ate the ammo, the problem could still be that ammo. It looks like the extractor needs to be tuned or adjusted. But the problem could be the brass is thicker at the rebated rim. Basically, that would mean a tolerance stack between the brass and the extractor, which would probably work fine with many other brands of brass. But put them together and you wind up with problems.

    Stop just forcing the slide closed after a FTF. Stop, pull your mag and investigate! It is generally very simple to ascertain the problem and often an easy fix. Possibilities: a burr on the extractor, a burred or rough breech face, a rough feed ramp or a mag issue. Ammo is also a possibility but not too high on my list as the GP-35 was designed as a military pistol and with eat pretty much any reasonable quality 9x19mm

    Funny story about that. When I looked at it in the shop, I knew nothing about the "PI" model, or any of the other models for that matter. I just saw it, knew what it was, and it was on my "to get" list. I thought it looked shorter than normal though, and I asked the guy (who is always there and runs the place) if it was a shortened model. He said "no they're all that length." I told him I was pretty sure an original Hi-Power was longer than that but took his word for it, assuming he knew what he was talking about since he runs the shop. Well, he was wrong lol. Not a big deal and I'm glad I got the newest release (good for the channel), but I hate it when I know more about guns than the salesman, especially when they misinform me because they don't know what they're talking about...

But 400e(tax included) from unfired 75b still in orginal case and factory grease is kind of steal. No wonder friend got interested about it. For fun that clerk told us that if we happen also have permits to buy 22lr pistol he could throw mcm margolin (unfired in factory case) on that sale for free. Otherwise those will get thrown into smelter in near future when he wants to get rid off his gun selection.

    I suspect You MAY have not done a full strip and clean. MANY times a Handgun will malfunction because of burrs or chips left over from manufacture. the heavy OIL they usually use does not help either. The only other thing that comes to mind is a defective mag or recoil spring. Might also have a rough feeding ramp, likely though since You say it gets better as the mag gets empty it may again be the magazine.

    Extractor was too tight

  • @inlandindieP35
    @inlandindieP35 Жыл бұрын

    I doubt it is the ammo, as your CZ consumed it without issue. The magazine on the Browning HP was originally 13, Mec-Gar who makes the 15 rounder that came in the Girsan might be an issue but the probability is low. First Mec-Gar makes quality magazines and second the 15 round hi power mags have been made by them since the 90’s and I have never heard of them being problematic before. That said, try a standard 13 round capacity Mec-Gar and see if the malfunctions continue. I think the issue might be that the extractor tension is too high and the extractor is grabbing the rim of the feeding cartridge and it is inhibiting feeding enough to cause intermittent failures. Pinned extractors are generally reliable though and I think it is probably not what is happening here but worth a thought. My biggest suspicion on the malfunction culprit is the recoil spring system. I think once the slide was shortened the physics changed with increased slide velocity and the recoil springs are not of the right design, or perhaps not of the right metallurgy or weight to handle the increased slide velocity. There is data online available that said Hi-Powers with shortened slide had reliability issues due to the recoil springs not being up to the job. If it is determined that the recoil springs are the issue, Hopefully Girsan addresses the issue with an improved design. Or perhaps an outside vendor like BH Spring solutions will take an active interest in fabricating a recoil spring solution.
