Dancing Queen MV was released in 2012/13 but was filmed in 2008. Noticed in the begin Yoona had a time machine that brought them back to 2008 from 2013. It was to release when recorded but wasn't because the English version was so popular and they decided to go with GEE instead.

Dancing queen supposed to release in 2008 but they postponed to 2012 because Duffy released it first. The MV already made in 2008. The song sold to SNSD and Duffy.

Yes. That's why they did look younger than when they actually released it. It was supposed to be in around Gee era.

They were supposed to release Dancing Queen in 2008 but due to Duffy releasing Mercy in the same year, SM had to shelf the song. This was replaced by Gee and the rest was history, like literally. Years later, Dec of 2012, SM used Dancing Queen as a pre-release and teaser for their most awaited comeback I Got A Boy because SNSD had been busy the entirety of 2012 (SNSD TTS was formed). As for Say Yes, SNSD is really having fun with the song. I remember how playful and enjoyable it was when they performed it on a radio tv.

Do you remember the teaser for IGAB? Sunny was wearing a trucker cap that said Motherfuc*er (not edited). Apparently no one at SM noticed this for quite awhile - then one day it was blurred out.

The MV Dancing Queen was made in 2008 one year since they debut for a Jeans Comercial....but the full MV was released in 2013....

Their live vocals never disappointed

What's funny is the difference between the original and the cover are so different in many ways..the lyric the interpretation the mood the vibe are totally different. I love both version. Mercy is sexy while dancing queen is cute & fun.

You need to understand that SM and Duffy's company both bought the rights to the song pretty much at the same time. Not at all uncommon, especially when it was considered that K-Pop was really only an Asian phenomenon. (Although SNSD was one of the groups that soon changed that). Duffy was quicker to release her track, and it was a global smash. Now you have to remember that SM had to write new lyrics to the song, as well as them being in Korean, so that took some time. Now as many people have outlined here, SM decided that it would not be smart to release the SNSD song so quickly after the Duffy song, as so many English speaking people would simply presume it was a "cheap Korean copy" ... because they would not worry about looking for an English translation, so as to see that it is actually quite a different song, simply done to the same music.

When I watch modern K-Pop, there are some songs that make me think, "Wow, that's amazing!" However, when I look at their next song, I feel disappointed with the same dance as the previous song. Girls' Generation's dance is always fun with the best dance that matches the song! We want to enjoy the music, not just watch the acrobatics!

Omg TiYul please! 💗 About 'Dancing Queen' MV They were going to release the song in 2008 around the time Duffy's Mercy came out but then Mercy became so popular they decided to wait and instead changed their title song to "Gee" Dancing Queen is more of a gift for the fans more than anything and it helped with the teaser showing how much they've grown since then until now and the whole "time travel" snsd comeback is on January 1st. Thats when I Got A Boy will be released ^^ SM does that sometimes. They buy the writes to a song and make different lyrics and a killer dance out of it. As you know now, this music video showed them now in 2012, then went to 2008, then showed what they will bring in 2013. And yes. The MV was much older, shoot in Gee era, someone correct me if I'm wrong but this was supposed to be their comeback but then Gee happened, then they released it with IGAB album hence the teaser in the end of the MV..
