Their savageness literally needs entirely different series and there is. This guide would be like 3 hours long if they included every savage comment Hyoyeon and Sooyoung said lol. But I would've loved to see more solo stuff for Hyoyeon's section. But like Austin said, not every guide is perfect.

Sunny is amazing on variety shows and very smart!

Sadly Hyoyeon in this guide covered really shortly, she has more. She even competed in Dancing With The Star if you interested to see some ballroom dance from her.

The guide forgot to mention about Yuri's solo debut, aside from a small snippet of her solo debut track 'Into You'. (her debut album Yuri: The First Scene is one of the best [and most underrated] albums in recent years! ). Yoona has also released a solo album in both Korean & Chinese [and all of the members in one way or another have released solo songs)

Seohyun's also inclined to academic and philantrophic works, I remember her helping in organizing a concert in North Korea, where she invited Red Velvet to perform as well.

I see Seohyun and D.O.'s personality somehow the same, they're both good actors, sings well, blunt/straightforward, I see them as the ones who'd always follow the rules... I love their innocence. Both of them look so pure, until you see their dramas which will make you say WUUUUUUT??? They're amazing. Well like you Sir Austin I like SM Artists, and Girls Generation is the one that introduced me to KPop and I just love them.

You liked Seohyun, you’ll bet TTS since its Taeyeon Tiffany and Seohyun! Regarding your question, they left SM but still part of the group means that they will participate with the remaining members if their agencies agreed to collaborate to do a music with them different with Jessica who was dismissed in the group. But we are hoping that she can make one more song with the group, also I believe that the 3 members who left the agency can sign again to SM, that means they totally did not leave the group just the company.

To tell you about SM ent., here's the a famous saying that goes, "SM isn't the greatest but it has the greatest". And all SM stans totally agrees with it LMAO! My bias in SNSD is Seohyun and I believe that she's a main vocalist alongside Taeyeon and Tiff (also Jessica) and not a lead vocalist. She's kind of a savage and a maknae on top and I love her that's why I love Irene too of Red Velvet. My bias amongst all solo female artists is Taeyeon coz her vocals are crazy! I love her music. Yuri and Hyeo are just around the corner to wreck my bias list lol. At first, I really liked Sunny but we're the same, I hate aegyo. But I don't hate her. Thank you for reacting to them. Been waiting for the part 2 since yesterday. I wish you could react to more Red Velvet too.

Yessss!! That's so true.. SM has this habit to focus only on a particular idol and forget the other members... and yes!!! I'd like to see more Red Velvet reactions too because their GG's baby sisters :)

We stan an iconic group. This is really making me miss SNSD.

Also I wanted to mention, the guy playing violin next to Seohyun playing piano was Henry Lau. He was part of Super Junior but has gone solo. He is the most talented singer and he plays like 10 instruments. He also attended Berklee.

Seohyun is a GREAT vocalist. Her vocal is my favorite and, in my personal opinion, she has the best vocal technique between all the SNSD girls. It's a shame that SM entertainment didn't recognize her talent and blocked from getting acting jobs. I think she's really underrated! ALSO, SHE LOVES MAMAMOO. A QUEEN WITH GOOD TASTE!!! OBS: if you have time, watch "Private Lives" on Netflix. She's stunning on this K-drama.

SM was blocking sooyoung and Seohyun acting career basically l. They wanted a certain image for them. Seohyun was supposed to stay innocent. Tiffany left because they were keeping her in the vault regarding her solo music choices. She wanted more freedom

Fun fact: the guide goes from oldest to youngest with Taeyeon as the oldest and Seohyun youngest. The younger members are taller. Yuri's nickname is the blackpearl cause of her beautiful tan skin that she embraces as well as her bright personality. Half the members hate YoonA's aegyo XD. Also, Seohyun was the member that introduced Mamamoo to me because she covered "You're the Best" in masked singer, so I appreciate her for that. Even though YoonA is my bias, I love and appreciate all the members especially since GG was my first kpop group. You might mistake Yuri and Seohyun since they are the members people mistake most (I know YoonA is also one but people usually spot her much better). Since you're a vocal coach, you can tell them apart from their voices. Yuri has a very husky voice that I really love in some of their songs and wished they trained her as a vocalist. Meanwhile, Seohyun has a powerful voice with lots of versatility. Another fun fact: Seohyun hates doing aegyo. As the youngest, she got pranked a lot and is a studious intelligent woman who took her education very serious. She was a rule follower but later started to loosen up a bit.

Austin: The "H" is aspirated in korean, so Seo-Hyun is composed of 2 syllabes. Maybe in casual speech the H sound could be more relaxed, but is not really silent. When I spoke to a korean native about singer-songwriter Younha (check her out) he thought I was talking about SNSD's YoonA because it's a different name for them. Then the "EO" vowel is an opened O (we in spanish don't have that sound) and "EO" is a "romanization" designed for english-speakers. It seems that "Hyun" also can be romanized as "Hyeon", but somehow fans or SM didn't choose that form. It's a diptongue so the Y /i/ and the EO /ʌ/ sounds are in the same syllable.

Tiffany, Sooyoung and Seohyun did not renew their contracts while the remaining 5 - Taeyeon, Sunny, Hyoyeon, Yuri and Yoona did. The 3 members who left SM did so on good terms. SNSD used their flex to continue their brand as an 8 member group. Each member who left SM secured with their new separate agencies the option to perform as SNSD if the timing and opportunity arose in the future. Rather than disbanding SNSD, in good faith, SM formed the SNSD new subunit Oh!GG with the remaining 5 members while acknowledging Tiffany, Sooyoung and Seohyun as members of SNSD in good standing who claim their continued inclusion in SNSD. Proof that such an arrangement is possible, after signing with a new agency, Seohyun worked out her schedule so that she could perform and share the stage with Taeyeon at her first Christmas concert. More recently, despite COVID-19, the 3 members who left SM guested on Yuri’s variety cooking show. Sooyoung and Tiffany cooked separately with Yuri in different episodes. Then in the episode to celebrate SNSD’s 13th year together, they joined Hyoyeon, Taeyeon and Seohyun as Yuri cooked for SNSD although Sunny and Yoona were absent. Because all 8 members are busily blazing their individual pathways, finding the timing to perform together has been difficult although the desire is strong. Again SNSD leads the Kpop industry by example with this unusual brand arrangement insuring that SNSD continues until the members themselves call it quits. When a girl group becomes living legends while active, the clout earned can insure their sustained group viability which is what SNSD discovered and why SNSD has not disbanded despite 3 members leaving SM, the agency that created the group.

"Black pearl" is Yuri's nickname. They probably couldn't find a clip that explains it well enough. But people called her that mainly because of her darker complexion. A pearl is rare and valuable, but a black pearl is even more rare to find. That's basically Yuri. Just like a pearl, she has such a bright personality that will literally light up a room (just like what you saw with her karaoke clip). Completely unrelated (but not really?), EXO actually has a song called Black Pearl, though I doubt it was about Yuri. Just thought I'd throw it out there since you're currently obsessed with EXO right now lol.

They are affiliated with the group after leaving SM because they all agreed to it and SM didn't say no. This is different than SM booting Jessica from the group first, and company departure happening second. Groups like EXID have actually been in different labels, but were able to keep the rights to their group name. It depends on what happens legally behind the scenes to an extent, but what is more important is whether or not the members in the group actually want it to be like that. No legal documents are going to keep a group's members from seeing themselves as still being in the group, even if a few left the company, if the members don't back down on the matter. The opinion of the public will outweigh and overturn the legal aspect of it. Pretty hard for a company to say a member isn't in the group anymore if the actual members are publicly saying otherwise, and the fans are agreeing with the members. Overwhelming public majority will win out.

I completely understand the confusion about members/artists being able to leave their agencies and still being allowed to promote in their groups. It's honestly pretty rare for it to happen. And honestly a lot of times it's just said to ease concerns or as a formality. MANY times artists/companies have expressed they aren't disbanding or are still in the group and their fates are left up in the air, resulting in them never coming back or disbanding fully **COUGH** f(x) (another SM girl group). Most groups that disband and leave their companies usually promise they still want to make music as a group but they just can't make music under their label anymore. And a lot of times those promises sadly never really come to fruition. Only groups/artists who have really good relationships with their company have been able to continue as group despite "disbanding" or leaving the company. SNSD is one example we have really yet to see if they really do continue as OT8, since their last comeback was in the form of Oh!!GG (which is the 5 members who are still under SM).

One thing I love about SM artists is that they can be the craziest and cringes off cam but when they step on the stage, they became a different version of their selves. they’re very professional. You’ll understand once you get to see more of their live performances

I'm not an expert on the Korean entertainment industry or anything but I think the idea behind members leaving a company but staying in the group is that the company retains management and distribution rights to the group IP as a whole but they relinquish that specific member's management to another company. It's not very common but SNSD is such a huge brand that the members have a ton of bargaining power. Look at Tiffanys solo stuff as an example, she left SM to focus on doing solo stuff in the US market and that was probably a big focus in her contract negotiations. SM doesn't necessarily want to devote the resources to her US career but they don't want to lose her as part of the SNSD brand so they allow another company to sign her while still allowing her to technically be a member of the group.

Also to answer why everyone's leaving SM, it's not because there's anything wrong with SM. it's more because they're all worth A LOT of money now so once their original contract expires, other companies are willing to make big bids for each member whereas it would be massively expensive for SM to give them all the terms they're requesting and they have newer generation groups to focus on investing in. So it's not really a bad thing for anyone, just a natural outcome of having a group that became massively successful during their initial contract period.

They are our age! You might not like majority of their earlier music releases as a group since they were heavily influenced by Bubble Gum Kpop, but as you go through their solo works in the last 5 years going to present, you'll appreciate them more. They have a solid and consistent music releases through the years. I can't wait for you to discover them all as you go on that journey. They can do it all. Sing, dance, act, DJ, etc. If their old music won't do the trick, then their bond will. They'll never have loyal Sones if wasn't for their personalities! Now about ppl leaving, SM tends to focus on developing 1 or 2 members per group and expects everyone to be pretty much on call for group related activities, which is why the ones that are not "the chosen ones" and want an agency that suports their individual activities end up leaving. So, for Tiff who wanted to get into the US market and Soo and Seo who wanted to focus on acting, staying in SM wasn't going to make it happen. Additionally SM did them super dirty for their 10th anniv and cut their promotions short to force them into re-signing and I think that actually pushed them into NOT doing it but since they all would like to reunite in the future SM left that possibility open. After that, OH GG! debuted which is called a sub-unit but it's actually just the members that stayed with SM, and also a sham cuz they released one (1) amazing single and then dipped lol.

I think the reason why they are not part of the company but still part of snsd can work because they are SNSD. their brand value alone still up there competing with popular girl groups nowadays when they have no group activities for almost 3 years. All they do is just show individually and introduce themselves as snsd and suddenly their song will trend on melon or they can take picture together as a group and they will trend in korea. If i were sm i won't abandoned that brand too, especially when they were out in a good term (most ex sm artist were out with problems behind them). Also sooyoung and seohyun signed contract to focus on acting career, they didn't sign with another entertainment company as in idol/singer company and tiffany signed with American label, she said if she wanted the freedom to join girls generation anytime it will be better not to sign with any asian company. Also after what snsd did, there are a lot of group following this steps, you can see nowadays a lot of group members have different company but they don't disband the group

Members left SM because of various reasons. But one thing for sure, before they change their label they already talked about it and asked other member's opinions and they said that they have been active for more the 10 years being an idol and this is the time where they can rest and spend their time not on stage but on a filming set. They also respect each other decisions and support each other's business. In perfect time, SNSD will be back again on stage ❣️

you can learn to know seohyun by the shape of her body and knowing she's the 2nd tallest member and the tallest in TTS also her voice is strang and closer to taeyeon voice ppl say that she has a angeliq voice but sor mais is between tiffany and taeyeon voice and usally she start the songs or do the pre- chors part

If you are really interested in getting to know the members (or at least their idol personae), watch them on variety shows. Sunny and Yuri were on a show way back around 2009/2010 called "Invincible Youth" where members from various girl groups would spend weekends out in the countryside learning to farm. The show is available on KZread with English subtitles. Yoona is actually fluent in Mandarin and seems like a very domestic person. If you are interested, check her out on the 2nd season on Hyori's Homestay (or Hyori's B&B); Lee Hyori was a 1st Gen idol with the group FinKL, then later a solo artist. They did a reality show where she and her husband turned their home on Jeju Island into a bed and breakfast. The first season featured IU as their staff member, while the second season had YoonA. The 5 members of SNSD still with SM recently (meaning around 2018) did an 8-episode show where they vacationed together in the Languedoc region of France which was quite fun to watch. It is also available on KZread with English subtitles. I think there was also a variety show starring the TTS members in America as well. Taeyeon has a show where she does stuff with her dog that is available on Kocowa or KZread (I can't remember which).

Many older groups have disperesed to different companies saying they aren't disbanding and will still make music together. Realistically, it is very difficult to work out the contract details and scheduling like that and it generally doesn't happen. However there are a few cases when it does, so us Sones are staying optimistic. One such case was actually SM's first girl group, SES. They disbanded and moved to different labels back in 2002 I think, but a few years ago they wanted to do a brief comeback to celebrate 20 years since their debut so they asked Lee Soo Man to produce it for them. They released an album with remakes and new songs, a couple of MVs, and even held a concert, all produced by SM. My guess would be that each of their labels got a small cut of the profits as a managment fee.

hyoyeon was really the blueprint dancing machine back in the day, she has such power and charisma in her dancing that was so far from the norm. i believe even when she was training at one point she was the only girl in the boy's dancing class because she was just on another level lol

Please do check taeyeon's youtube channel, she posted several videos there including the karaoke video you saw on the guide. And we manifesting all the good energy for her to upload again on youtube cause her contents are top notch. She also good with talking btw, her insta live often go virals even within nonfans, her talk sections in concert are funny too (if you ever binge watch her concert please don't skip the talk part), to conclude she's pretty much very comfortable around fans (too comfortable if i could say 😂) but she's cautious when she's in the public eyes because as the leader she feels responsible for many things. But she wouldn't hesitate called out or shade SM 😂

19:34 Idk if you know this, but this song she's singing is So Chan-whee's "Tears", it's like the Korean version of Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" in the way that this is the song everyone tries to sing to prove that they can sing. It has a lot of crazy high notes and very belt-y so a lot of Idols have attempted to sing it over the years. It's one of the most popular songs sung at karaokes in Korea.

the three members who left SM back in 2017 left on "good terms", so if by chance SNSD comeback some day then it really won't matter them not being part of the company anymore.. even this year the members who left even went to SM's practice room with the other members to practice for their performance in their manager's wedding, so it's not like there's any beef between them and the company.. snsd ain't coming back mostly because they already spent 10 years focusing on the group's activity and now wanna focus more on their solo stuff, taeyeon, tiffany and hyo in music, sunny in her cats (lmao) and yuri, seohyun, yoona and sooyoung in acting.. but they are all really good friends and always meet each other and cheer SNSD.. and one day they will definately come back as a group for one of their anniversary

the 3 members left SM after completing 10 years with GG They decided they were in a different part of their lives and wanted to explore other things. Tiffany had always wanted to debut in the US so she did that, Sooyoung and Seohyun wanted to focus on acting and they did that too. The others all have solo music careers (except Sunny, she's a well-known variety MC) and are thus still together. This is also why they haven't actually disbanded, they're still part of SNSD, it just isn't the main thing anymore. They're all open to comeback as when they all decide to, though.

Yoona vs Yuna vs Euna. All three are versions that have been tied to how 유나 is pronounced. Yoona from SNSD, Yuna in Itzy, Euna in The Ark/Khan. It's more about romanization styles and personal preference. Or choosing different spellings so as not to be confused with other popular celebrities. Such as Yuna Kim (the famous Ice Skater).

The members who left the agency but part of SNSD are Sooyoung, Tiffany and Seohyun. That would work if you see it as just the whole group. That so far not disbanding. They just cannot promote and release songs as a whole. (And so as they still recognized as a member since the group technically isn't disbanded) Thats why the remaining 5 members who are still in the agency are called sub units. (SNSD OH!GG)

The -can leave the company and still be a group together- only really worked for them because they’re so well-established in the industry, that the company is willing to make an exception for them (as far as i understand it)

For example groups like Iz*one, Everglow, Twice, Blackpink and others have 2 different persons for the two roles. It's a bit complicated because one would think that the most beautiful person in the group should be at the center but the position is really about demeanor, the center dictates the stage and must make sure that the audience is captivated by the performance. That explains why the center in Red Velvet is Irene (who is also the visual) and at the same time in Twice it's Nayeon and not Tzuyu.

One of the biggest and best examples of a group leaving their company and remaining a group is Brown Eyed Girls. They left their og company and all 4 members went to different companies and all their companies have an agreement that allows the members to come together and have a full group comeback. Sadly, with SM's negative track record with being money hungry, and SNSD ot8 comeback is very up in thr air but some members have been hopeful that one day they'll make a full group comeback. Also SM doesn't give SNSD the respect and proper promotions that they deserve. On your own time, definitely research the mess that was SNSD's 10th anniversary in 2017.
