After all this time I still hear “Butterfly pooped a spider…”🤣

I think the biggest difference in SNSD's Japanese tracks is not so much the music style (although they tend to be a little more electric) is that the styling and overall vibe tends to be a little more mature? Like the stylists decided to actually dress them like grown women. Also definitely check out The Great Escape and Mr Taxi performance from MTV japan. Many agreed that this is one of the girls‘ best performances EVER!

Not sure if anyone ever explained it to you already, but the lyrics from that one questionable line at the beginning of the chorus are "誰もが butterfly ぶった spider". The word "ぶった", or "butta", is pronounced like "bu-ta" and means "pretending". The full line, romanized as "Dare mo ga butterfly butta spider", translates to "Everybody is a spider pretending to be a butterfly" in English. They're not singing about defecation 😂
