I’m a huge Black Pink fan but before Black Pink, before Twice, it was Girls Generation. They’re a true legend of Kpop. The original national girl group of South Korea going on to their twelfth year. Tbh I think it's a pretty distinct style - I get that obviously BP are huge and SNSD are/were huge, but stylistically it's not really an apt comparison. Twice can certainly be seen as a kind of successor to SNSD, but Blackpink don't really draw that heavily from them. They're much more closely aligned to groups like 2NE1 and 4Minute. I do get what you mean, though. And SNSD will always be the nation's girl group.

Oliver Hughes. You totally misunderstood my comment. I never made any comparison with Black Pink. My reference was solely on popularity. Black Pink will soon be on American television because of their new level of global popularity. Similar to Girls Generation in 2012 when they appeared on Letterman and on Regis.

Jesa and now it’s so obvious. Bang Bang Bang is a little like that and the reason I got into kpop. I saw my daughters dance crew do a cover and wasn’t sure if it was a medley of three diff songs or not so I looked the MV up on KZread. Three hours of kpop later and I was a kpop fan 😂

Inappropriate K-Pop Mum I’m the “oldie KPOP” person so I was one of the people that was there when you had to struggle to find MVs on dailymotion and there was literally no English subs then and KPOP was finally getting onto KZread 😭😭😂😂 and I grew up on heavy metal and rock in general so I can’t believe I never thought of that reference to queen lol

Fun fact: the part where they said "Let me bring it back to 140" is not just the bpm, but also it's right on the 1 minute 40 second mark in the real song (whereas the MV had an extended intro where they were playing in the pink room)

I recommend Girls Generation "The Boys". This is especially timely with Blackpink about to make some U.S. television appearances next week. I'm reminded of when Girls Generation did some tv shows in the U.S with (an English version) of that song almost exactly seven years ago. And I also recommend "You Think" which is a hyper confident diss to any boys who dare think they are cooler than them. I could listen to them belting out "You're not!" all day long. And then just for something different there's the video "Hoot" for all your 60s Bond girl needs (including a special guest starring role by Super Junior's Siwon. Hey, you need a 007 kinda guy for this!)

This was a pure joy to watch you guys see this! I don't think I've ever seen Dame Diddy as flustered as I did at the end. girls generation was known as the nations girl group for basically the whole of second generation kpop. Just so you have an idea how popular they were & still are! the song that really helped get them to the top was "gee" so if you havent yall should def check it out

I'll name every first generation girl group, and then I'll start naming the second generation girl groups that debuted before, with and after GG and their signature songs and dances. and you will lose the bet. GIrls Generation is Iconic period. buy don't make definitive statements that can easily be proven across the entire history of kpop. WIthin the Second Generation. Girl's Day Something. Sistar Alone. Miss A Hush. Each has their iconic songs and dance known by that particular group that Girl's Generation never touched. And that is ok. They did their own thing and Girl's Generation did theirs and they were just as perfect. I really don't understand the need to try and take something away from one group to add to try to add to another.

​@@fluffydeath9252 No. wroooong. This is where you fail. First generation girl group rein from 1997-8 (S.E.S first ever GG) to 2002. There were only 9 active girl groups in the span of 5 years cause they were all fails except S.E.S who did really well. And in those 5 years, many, if not all (except S.E.S) 9 groups had only release 1 to 2 albums and became inactive. S.E.S did not have a specific concept except being a girl group. So you can rule them out, your ''i cAn nAmE fiRSt gEnErAtiOn giRL gRouP wHo diD iT bEfOrE sNsD'' is pure BS...because almost all of girl group from first generation failed and had no concept. Then came 2003 BigMama, who did NOT have concept and were only singers. And the next one was in 2006 Brown Eye girl. I know them, ive heard all of their songs. There never did cute concept, they never did girl crush concept. Their concept were unique like RedVelvet. Then came 2007 where we finally debuted really successful GGs, WonderGirls, Kara and SNSD. These were the ones who actually trended cute concept, girl crush concept and actually formed a structure for the new GGs to follow. And Sadly for you. All of them debuted back to back with only months in between. Meaning they all already had planned, filmed, recorded, produced their music and was a matter of what month they release their album/music. It was these 3 who did it first. and by ''these 3'' SNSD is one of them. So, yeah. They actually did it first.

Girls Generation are undoubtably the biggest kpop Girl group of all time and definitely one of the most successful in the world. They've been around for 12 years now and currently hold many records still unbroken (they have the highest sales ever for any kpop girl group). Before Girls Generation debuted Kpop was a majority male scene. You had a few other girl groups like Kara and the Wonder Girls who debuted the same year. But after they debuted they became legendary and practically paved the way for other girls in kpop. They were also one of the first girl groups to dominate the japanese market (alongside Kara). I definitely recommend listening to more of their songs as they've tried so many concepts over the years. They should be having a comeback around their 12th anniversary this year. All the members have gone their own way now and are all incredibly successful. You should definitely check out Tiffany who is promoting in the US now and is about to release her first american EP with the title track 'Born Again'. Also Taeyeon who's known as one of the best vocalists in Kpop and has an extremely diverse and amazing solo discography.

Hi, thanks for reacting the our Queens! By the way, those beat changes have reasons behind it. The concept of this song is that girls gather and gossip about their boyfriends or boys. It's like in a gossip circle, different ppl come up with different mood (different beat) and when things get kinda messy, one person migh speak up and pull everone back to the right track (that part "Hey you stop! Let's bring it back to 1.40). It's such a great song. It's art 😊😊😊

Other SNSD songs I recommend would be "Hoot", "Genie" (Samsung version), and "Mr. Mr." Girly but still fun (Japanese language but Korean release, so safe to react to) is "Beep Beep". "Galaxy Supernova" is another Japanese-language bop. There's also a Japanese version of "Genie", 100% different video! "Check" is a great slow jam. "Party" and "All Night" are more recent releases, after they lost a member. "Lion Heart" is 50's retro. Happy reacting!

So the main channel has been focused on the newest stuff that comes out. I did a whole girl’s generation week on Patreon. That resulted in a bunch of music video reactions from the group, the boys album review, some live performances, dance practices, and more. If we have an opening we may squeeze it in. Just letting you know GG content does exist. It’s just more so on Patreon because a lot of them request it.
