I think the side plot of Carson's divorce was more of a vehicle to show that his house was publicized online, and people were easily able to find where he lived, leading to Cara knowing your whereabouts. Also to instill fear in the mystery of who's breaking in.

Ive actually been in a situation similar to this. I was pet sitting for a friend around the holidays. I started to get freaked out and left early. My friend had security cameras at her front and back door, she asked me if I was still in the house or brought a friend or something because her system said someone entered the house and never left. Within 30 minutes the police were called, they searched the house and found a woman under the basement stairs with a kitchen knife. Unlike this, it wasnt a crazy ex on meth, but a confused and mentally ill older woman. She had broke in while I was in the house and the basement door was found open which means she knew I was there. She didnt steal anything which I think makes it even worse

The who Carson scandal thing was a red herring as well as to establish paranoia. In other words, you assume the invader is a crazy fan of the ex wife but really your ex girlfriend. Also, in the final ending, It is said that she took meth and I find it weird that they changed it to hard drugs. Meth ages a person and would explain why his friends called her a "goth milf."

I think the crazy fans were meant to be a red herring as to who the intruder could've possibly been. But it had also been heavily hinting towards it being Cara ever since the convenience store trip. Actually, I don't think Charlie showed it but in the part where he's having a conversation with his friend, they mention that Cara had just been there and bought a lot of cans. When you're rolling up you can actually see her walking out of the store and to her car, which is probably how she ended up finding you at that house. She probably drove off and then waited for you to leave to follow you back. Talk about unlucky. In another note, for some reason they changed the fact that she was taking meth to just unspecified "hard drugs." Hmm.

my favorite part of charlie playing horror games is when he disses the game mechanics and storytelling and doesn't react to anything

The part about the angry fans is meant to make you uneasy about everyone, like the pizza guy, it keeps you guessing about where the threat will come from; so you stay scared throughout & aren't just expecting your ex to show up the whole time. The goal being to keep the player on their toes, as they are playing a 'horror game,' after all.

I immediately recognized this story from Reddit, the only thing that might be different is he occupation of the person paying to have their house watched but other than that I remember this entire thing from a story on Reddit I saw like 1-2 years ago Also that laundromat that he starts in is the exact same one from a game that has the character running a laundromat and has an arcade in the back

It actually is really good like the other 2 made by the same people, it’s just that Charlie doesn’t take any of it seriously so he never gets scared.

This asset (the town) is a really great asset on UE4/5. Used it myself. Glad to see it well utilized.
