That's what "muscle-memory" is all about. For me it's like typing on a keyboard as a programmer and having a conversation, or for a dancer while talking, or driving a rallycar while talking to the navigator next to him/her. Incredible how multitasking a human being can be. 😀

@@browl218 Nah, plenty of good pianists have a hard time playing while talking, especially singing while talking. It's a learned skill like anything else.

I like how she's never played boogie woogie before but quickly starts to do her own improv. She's a natural musician!

There was no improv. She was literally pressing the exact same keys entire time, just with different intervals.

looking away from the piano while playing takes a month or two to learn and improves level of play by an incredible amount. sadly this technique is rarely taught.

People used to say that about my playing the flute. You NEVER see the keys but you just know what to hit and comes natural. A good piano player would be the same way. All players who learn and play an instrument are never really appreciated for their learned skills.

That shows you do Not Know nothing about piano. Tell that to Scriabin, Argerich or Barenboim. Go to a Conservatorium and See how many Students with huge fingers do not play so good. With regards to the Girl, she is beginning. I can See that in her Technik. And of course I am not saying she is not good. But Tell me which Song you are playing, and I will Tell you how good you are. When I was a kid I asked someone, when you play piano like, the pionist must use the both the left and right hemispheres of the brain, and to be able to talk to someone on the side is truly amazing, joining in with another musician, like all is one, extremely talented.
