He died because Alba didn't listen to him. Didac's instincts told him not to trust the guy, Especially when he was caught watching her nurse the baby. Men often know when guys are being dishonest.

Assuming they were the only 4 people left in the world, this situation was inevitable. Her desperation for human social contact invited trouble. The woman did not understand that the visitor saw her not as a person but as a finite resource that must be taken by force.

I just think the man was a lonely human being who spent years away from other humans, which affected him mentally. So when Didac forced him to go back to his isolation, he just snapped and stole the baby to at least have someone with him. Apart from the scene where he is seemingly "peeping" at the woman, he didn't seem to show any signs of wanting her sexually in any aggressive manner.

  • @Lurklen

It's in no way inevitable. It's far more likely (but way less dramatic) that they would just cohabitate, unless the boatman was totally deranged. At worst there might be some kind of conflict over her, but more likely they just would have got along. People are social, going back to loneliness would be a heavy disincentive to causing problems to any normal person. Also, if all it took was being underwater, there's probably like more than a million people alive world wide. They just aren't all in Spain. (World wide how many people were at the beach/in a pool/at or in any body of water at that moment. It's not a huge percentage of the world wide population, but even a small percentage would still be a huge number, and that's not counting other scenarios where people might have been safe. Civilization might be doomed, but the species would probably bounce back.)

If they really were the only four people in the world the girl would have to be permanently pregnant and the men should take turns impregnating her, so that the children had a chance of varied DNA. So a girl child from one man marries a boy child from the other, and that would separate in two generations flat.

Mothers have to respect their Sons, Aunt their Nephew, Big Sister their little Brother bc their MEN. I some ethnicities it goes even further when it comes to who's the Head of the Family and Inheritance. If the Father is Dead, it doesn't matter how many Daughters he had before his Son or how old they are. The Son is automatically the next "Head of the Family" and gets all of the Inheritance. If he's too young the family Members are going to raise him still but he gets the inheritance of his Father no questions asked.

@@aberba Honestly? Because it's easier for the doctor to see what he's doing. It comes from a history of male doctors assuming their role was more important in the birthing room than any woman's - including the expecting mother. That kind of attitude(hundreds of years ago, though there's probably some that still think that way) is why, prior to mandatory handwashing and germ theory, it was safer to have the kid at home with a midwife, because if you went to the hospital you'd die in childbirth or from a nasty infection afterwards. Add in the bit where grunting/groaning/being seen or heard doing the actual labouring was considered 'unseemly' - like 'terribly sorry if my lack of decorum offends you, Doctor sir, but I'm trying to push an entire human being into the world through my lady parts'. Hah. TLDR - it's like that in every hospital because hospitals are usually old institutions that date back decades if not centuries, and people are often stupid, both historically and current era.

Yes, but problems will be in batteries - each battery gradually loses their capacity, event if they are not used. So after few years they can power phoned for example just for 40 minutes. End every month it will become worse and worse. All consume electronics is made with short life by design because companies want to sell you the next model as soon as possible. Of course there are exceptions like medical electronics and army electronics.

I find it interesting that she would rather name the baby "Kai" because it means "Sea" in Hawaiian, but "Mar" also means "Sea" in Spanish. hm, just saying.

In the movie, she's mentioned it -- the Hawaiian name is gender neutral, but (by inference) the Spanish name is masculine. Hence, I know of a young girl called Kai; and an older gentleman called Mar. Hope that trivia helps.

No matter what its going to be crazy. Its a lose or lose situation. How were they miraculously going to be the same age? She at least didn’t groom him at all, they were just surviving. The movie was taking the naturalistic approach. If you don’t put a mental block in your mind about another of the opposite sex then you gonna naturally get attracted to them if you just was with them for that long. Mental blocks for the most part come from family members and close friends. They never really had that until they were forced to be together for 5 or more years😂

I like how all computers and telephone is rendered useless yet the cellphone works and makes phone calls (because somehow the cellular infrastructure is spared). The phone also has infinite battery power and more importantly the phone memory (mabe she is uplaoding to the cloud or social media). By such logic alone people are still arguing about why and what should have done. And the best part of the recap - make Money on recap of movie that u dont even mention a name or any kind of credit for people to check out the movie. Just brilliant!!!

Screw that! I would want nothing to do with anybody else I do not know! The man on the boat would be helped and sent on his way. Also, if I were the man on the boat, I would leave as soon as possible and and not look back! People are the worse possible in a catastrophe situation. The last thing to be around are people, in a disaster situation. Stay as far as possible from people in a disaster situation.
