That's true
as an OCD sufferer, i can relate to all of this. I've dealt with all kinds of intrusive thoughts about m*rder, r word, p*dophilia, etc.. to the point where my brain made me believe that i actually wanted to do these things when deep down inside i never did. my OCD made me believe i was crazy and that i was losing control over myself mentally and physically. my brain can come up with anything at any moment and i'm stuck sitting there ruminating on it and trying to "figure them out" which i found out was a compulsion. it's like a neverending cycle.
intrusive thoughts suck, fighting the urge when you see all that you are capable of doing it, you dont want to do it, but its hard
i like the song cuz: 25% its of GIR and she's like the best, lyrics, melody rest 75% badadrraaabarada

The bit about intrusive though hit me because I get those thoughts because of my adhd and anger issues and most of the time I resort to drawing how im feeling then I burn it as if to say these thoughts aren't welcome and that everything is gonna be ok

Anxiety and depression, but also OCD! This song is about a specific type of OCD called Harm OCD, which is an important distinction because people who relate to this song need to know what they likely have and where to go to get an actual diagnosis and further help and treatment.
I have taboo themed ocd where I constantly have egodystonic intrusive thoughts feelings or impulses. It was so crazy hearing this song talk about those things!
i'm getting goosebumps.. she's so talented, i love her..

Not gonna lie, I have never related to something ( I mean thing she says ) this much. I almost started crying while watching this video, because it was the first time in my life I felt like I’m not alone. She’s amazing. Thank you.
I adore this song, and this artist dialogue. I’ve not really struggled with mental illness but boy have I known others struggling with it. It’s always been so hard to deal with them from my shoes, selfishly I’ve always just wanted them to be different. This song hit me in some way and helped me feel so much empathy and some more understanding for those who struggle with mental illness in a way that no book, lectures or articles could have taught me. Amazing work for such a young person to do already!
thank you for speaking openly about it. i feel seen, heard and understood. thank you from the bottom of my heart. i feel like im not alone. intrusive thoughts can be so tough to deal with. haven’t found a proper way to do so yet but i hope i will one day. thanks to you i know have a song i resonate and can identify with and this song really comes as a friend to me.

Finally a Genius interview, I've been waiting for this for yearsssssss
I don’t think she talked about it, but I love the staccato line and then the little staccato like vocal scat she does at the end of the phrase with the roll of the tongue like a machine gun.
pure *art* pure GIBBER-*ESH*
I started listening to girl in red after hearing her famous songs “We fell in love in October” and “I wanna be your girlfriend.” Of course I fell in love with her music style and voice and lyrics and everything. I didn’t realize how much I actually relate to her until I watched this. Wow. She is my new therapist
Let's admit this is all we've been waiting for
This is something very beautiful, but also painful in a way. It's been so long, she literally captured what has been harboring me and living within my mind for so long. Just, wow. It's so hard to compose words. It's beautiful, in such a way, but it's oh so painful. Knowing I'm not alone helps but, it also breaks me knowing people out have to live the same way she or I have to live. If you're out there reading this, remember, you're a blessing. And you're beautiful. Genuinely.
Let’s hope this genius interview doesn’t turn her problematic

She is so relatable and Seratonin is one of my favourite songs
This song appeared at the right time for me during the pandemic. It made me realize that other people had anxiety/mental health issues just as I did. It made me understand some of the symptoms. It was a long road to recovery.
I've been waiting for this one!!!!
I wish I had this song years and years ago. The isolation was terrifying and made the whole situation even scarier. I’m so grateful to have found ways to heal, but I’m even more grateful the people still struggling have these kinds of role models, platforms, and releases to understand their thoughts and processes❤️
I waited for this so muchhh omg i just love her more than everything😭
Thank you so much for being so real. Such a genuine and healing song.
i feel so seen with this song, especially when she talked about the intrusive thoughts and scary thoughts in your head… thank you for your art ❤️
This song hit me during a very hard time in my life. I was mentally traumatised by my partner gaslighting me with her new partners but still wanting me to mother her while she bullied me because I was so mentally unstable. I broke down and was put into a psyche ward by the girls and made homeless. Your song made me feel like I was understood and my sadness and breakdown was what was needed to escape from the damage. I lost my cats and lots of my stuff, but I got my freedom. Thank you for helping me though this.
I'm so glad that this topic is finally getting some light shined upon it, dealing with intrusive thoughts is a living hell it's even worse when you explain what you're going through and people cant really understand. I've been going through the hardest year of my life and oddly it was after covid was subsiding. Not sure why I'm saying this here but one thing I would say is don't ever stop believing the person you were before the thoughts cause eventually they become like clouds that float away. So to anyone going through the same thing, know you're not crazy or alone we're all going through it, stay safe everyone!
she combined perfect lesbian representation, with lyrics that truly have factual meaning, with the best kind of beats and harmonies! her music is amazing!
Finally someone talks about OCD and intrusive thoughts. I’ve been struggling with that stuff for as long as I remember and it’s so refreshing having people relate to you.

Cluster B personality disorders is actually a pretty common obsession for people with Harm OCD. It isn't unusual for people with OCD to think of themselves as psychopaths or borderlines and even to be misdiagnosed with BPD / NPD. If this song hits deep consider OCD.

OMG HER VOIIICCEEEEEE 💖
my family's dog Shiloh had been a massive help for my ptsd and anxiety, focussing on an anxiety buddy does wonders for just... getting past a moment and going to sleep at night. I really appreciate this song, even if it starts on the radio as I'm driving into my neighbourhood I'll head back out and loop the block a few times just to enjoy it.
This is so deep wtf man I love her
I remember going through long phases of getting intrusive thoughts when I was younger and being absolutely terrified because I wasn't aware of what it was back then. So for the longest time I thought something was seriously wrong with my morals, and my mom was religious and thought it was demons which only freaked me out worse. I've done better now that I know what they are, I still get them here and there but they tend to be more manageable. They are still scary and anxiety inducing though
i agree therapy should be freaking noormalized. im suffering from ocd and whenever i try to talk it out to my parents, they would say i need to help myself because psychologists arent common in our place and they act as if going to a psychologist would mean im mentally crazy. for someone who has ocd, its so much painful, frustrating, and stressing that i am aware and completely sane of what im doing its just that i have a hard time controlling it.
Never thought of the phrase "intrusive thoughts" before this song and her explaining it made me understand it even more. Now I understand them. Cutting my hands off and Hurting somebody I love are two things I think more often then I should. Hits home. Strange.

Definitely describes the real OCD experience. It can be extremely scary and confusing. Theres therapy for it where you can be functional. Btw, the compulsions are never things you want to, but engage with them the reinforcing element is the relief from anxiety. Her therapists explanation is very accurate.
