This was my first visit to a theatre performance. I wasn't expecting it to be so moving, had tears in my eyes at the end; the entire cast was amazing, talented singers / actors / musicians all, though Shirley Henderson in particular was outstanding.

Omg!! Saw this on the penultimate night with my two daughters , 22 and 17. A few weeks earlier we saw Dreamgirls which was fab! However! What an amazing show, each and everyone of them can sing! It was, breathtakingly amazing, so emotional, Dylan’s versions of songs better than his own. My girls verdict? They absolutely lovedDreamgirls but Girls from the North won hands down!

Katie Brayben was amazing in the West End production at the Gielgud. She was the best thing about a show that just doesn't work for me. I was so bored. Some other singers were awesome too.

To anyone who's seen it, please tell me how Hurricane sits in the show when it's set in Duluth in 1936. Hurricane, specifically about Ruben Carter, born one year after this show is set! That alone puts me off seeing it. Just makes me think of it as a Dylan's Greatest Hits on stage rather than a story with songs picked specifically for it. Having songs written in the 60s, 70s, even if there were any in there written now I don't have a problem with, so long as they're generic and not about one specific person or event.

I don't get how that one song should be putting you off the see it. I agree, it makes you wonder, but that only makes me want to see it more especially when you see the reviews..There must be something really good about this I suppose. Apart from West Side Story I don't like musicals at all. This, I'd like to see though..By luck I stumbled upon the video of Tight connection to my heart yesterday evenin' and it blew me off my seat, I didn't know about this production, but now I do and I only wish I get the chance to see it.

It puts me off thinking that song has no place and it's been shoehorned in there just because it's one of his greatest hits. A show with no plot and just Dylan's Greatest Hits on stage would just be tacky. I'll be sat there listening to them singing about Ruben Carter, Alfred Bello, Arthur Dexter Bradley et al, all the while it's set 30 years before any of it happened. Cringeworthy just thinking about it. Tight Connection and the rest are generic, not date or person-specific, could be written about anyone in any period of time. That's why I was asking, if anyone has seen it, tell me if it actually has a place and a purpose to the story and hasn't just awkwardly been thrown in there.

Again: I get that, but if the reviews are that great don't you think they must've found a way to implement the song into the storyline without making it look/sound out of place?..I'm curious too as to how this can work in this show, but obviously for many it did so..worth checking it out I think

Actually this is the one song in the play (I've heard it's more like a play with music as opposed to a musical) that is even close to being a hit. Most of them are his least known songs. Variety magazine says "the songs serve the show, not visa versa." Not all songs are sung in full; many of them are just snippets. Perhaps Hurricane is more about anyone in prison unjustly and not specifically Ruben Carter. Since I live in the U.S. and it is playing in London I'll have to wait and see.

It’s a very good show, but It’s not meant for kids. There’s a lot of dark stuff in there, such as an attempted murder, implied drowning, Dementia, racial tensions, and it’s very dark and bleak at times (it’s funny too, but overall, it’s rather dark). So don’t take your kids there if they aren’t old or mature enough to handle it. Late tweens or teens I could see being there. Matilda this is not.

The blasphemy was awful, and often repeated, why do people think that it will go unpunished? For they don't fear God even if they believe in Him.

I walked out of this at intermission. So bad. Too much boring dialogue and the songs didn’t fit at all. Anyone raving about this must not see musicals often. Go see Jagged Little Pill or Six.

We all have different tastes. I loved it and I see loads of musicals. I hated Six! If we all had the same taste the world would be a very dull place.
