I have been listening to them since 1989 one song got me the music they perform has lots of emotion most of the words i can understand since they speak a different dialect of spanish but you can when you listen feel the music and its meaning ,tried to get every album they have come out and the music does n ot disappoint JRo

I speak Spanish as my first language but as an Argentinian sometimes I struggle to understand what they say, seems like they mix different Spanish pronunciations or even local languages spoken in Spain.

OMG this brings back fantastic memories as I was there for the concert. Went with my sister & a friend, with the 3 of us having the best night. Me saying that makes me realise how many years have passed since that night - does that now make me officially old? 😏 If it does, not sure I really care as their music still gets me dancing & makes me happy! 🙂❤️

Your not old its because we are set in time & life moves on & time just lapses. My wife & I have loved the band for years and so it was regret I had a spinal stoke in September last year. Life goes on & you realise we are getting older, & so are they TTFN Frosty

I have been listening to these guys since what feels like forever, since my teens just like the Eagles. The Eagles and The Gypsy Kings are for sure the sound track to me life and I feel every emotion in the music. I truly cannot imagine life without either.

What musicians and singer's got to see them in Dublin in the ninetys with my late husband 🙏and my sister who now speaks fluent Spanish treasured memories will never fade, still have their CD blasting in the car as I travel the roads, shows us, one does not need! the language !to appreciate good rhythm and music...

Just love flamenco and the emotions that the music creates. No one is better than the Gypsy Kings!

En ese año 95 estuve yo en México por trabajo varias semanas y no me enteré de que irian por alli los GIPSY KINGS, habria ido al concierto seguro

When I first heard them on a CD, I was enthralled with the pureness and energy of their music. To me, it speaks of life, living, giving it your very best. This particular concert of the Gipsy Kings made me fall in love with the guitar. I started learning it and after 25 years I am not bad with it.

I was at this concert in '89 brilliant night - took the whole band back to my restaurant, La Finca in Islington, for a meal, which was a great night as well, especially when the band played another set for my customers which got featured in the Evening Standard, tried my best speaking to them in Spanish, blank expressions followed, then I was informed that they only spoke French!! Still, we communicated - a great, extremely talented bunch of guys - eternal thanks to Ray Leavy of A1 records for the introduction of the band to me. 31 years later I still remember every detail of the night. Also I know I'm getting older b'cos the current Gypsy Kings line up is starting to include the next generation - the sons and nephews of this original line up (possibly grandsons !) any daughters, nieces and granddaughters coming thru? That would be very 2020 and very interesting but would they have to change their name and to what...? Any ideas anybody. Memories, thanks Gypsy Kings and Ray - without him, I doubt if anyone would have heard of them outside of the Camargue region and the borderlands of Spain and France. Hope you all enjoyed my little story - plenty of time to write in Lock down, good news tho', in 3 hours, State of Emergency ends in Portugal where I live, see folks, it will get better. Stay safe, Jim. Gotta add this quote from Nicolas " At first, we were a little nervous about facing the world, now it is our life, after all, we have been travelling for centuries - we only exchanged caravans and horses for cars and planes.. Now the cops are in front of us, not behind!" - Brilliant.!! FURTHER EDIT. - some things I missed in my comments :- 1)How much the entire band were enjoying this concert - you can see it in all their faces. 2)The effort the band put into their individual presentation and performance. 3)Nico's vocals, how he builds them up, alongside the rest of the band, up to the final chorus during "My Way" in Spanish. 4)Tonini's brilliant guitar playing and how he is so unassuming, shy in a way, although he was then and still is now, one of the top Rumba Flamenca guitarist's in the world. 5)The brilliant camera work and editing of the concert - remember this is 1989 !! Hope everything is OK in Oz, it seems to be calming down in Europe, but the position is still very fragile, nobody believes it has gone away, hiding at best. Is going to be a problem until a vaccine is found. In the meantime, we have to learn to live with it, try to control the spread and prevent further waves returning.Thank God for Internet, Facebook, Twitter, You Tube etc. ., for all the bad press they get in normal times they have certainly made lock down bearable. Well, I told my story already but I can add the 2 times I saw them at Radio City Music Hall it was packed! Little blond blue eyes girls dancing standing up on the seats. Quite an audience. I always knew they are French but they sing in Spanish pretty good.

My lord put Tonino on a list of the greatest pickers to ever live! I keep him in regard for his cavalier style of performance (almost like he can’t be bothered to be there as one of the most amazing guitarist on the planet) and virtuoso. I doubt he would care I say this He was born to play that guitar. So much love and inspiration. Again for my second comment, so much respect for a lifetime of exceptional music

Took my beloved mum to see them at the Manchester Apollo on september 17th 1990 - she had remarkable taste in all that is (was?) good. It was as an electric night as at this concert at the Royal Albert Hall in May '89. This was I believe the time that The Gypsy Kings at their absolute finest - in every way. The line-up has changed too frequently in the intervening years (decades). I have learned to understand that all the true greats have what can only be lamely described as a sort of 'purple patch' ... when some indescribable 'else'... is also present on those magical happenings. Perhaps with regard to The Gypsy Kings it has something to do with what is known as 'duende' in flamenco - when the artist(s) , words&music , place , people looking back and that unkown 'else' and that ... almost all become one and the same ; impossible to properly 'translate' ... you either get it entirely - or you do not . Had the exact same sensation every time I witnessed the great Neil Diamond in concert here in the U.K . and even more so at that most indescribable of open-air venues - The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles , that incidentally the Gypsy Kings have played many times . There is so very much one could add about , what are , in truth , the very best nights of our lives . She left this life just six short weeks later - completely unexpected after making a remarkable recovery from a major procedure . The lesson is love was is only good in this life . . . and leave behind all that is not. Life is too precious . All be well .
