Giovanni is kinda a trash villain tbh. He loses to a couple of 10 year olds? This guy is the 8th gym leader and the master of a crime syndicate, the head of Team Rocket itself, and he loses to an actual child in a 1v1. How embarrassing!

This is probably why Giovanni goes into hiding in Gen 2. He's too afraid that he might lose to another kid!
