Tutto inizia dai viaggi in treno per andare in università. Nasce allora l'ispirazione di sfruttare quei momenti di attesa per scrivere una canzone che parlasse più in generale del significato dell'attesa nella vita.
Trains ha una melodia orecchiabile, un mix tra ballad del passato ed idee sonore contemporanee.
La canzone lascia inoltre uno spazio importante agli strumenti, in particolar modo la chitarra, protagonista del potente ma melodico assolo finale.
