Gion District, Kyoto City
Gion District is a historic area in Kyoto city, close to the sizzle of the downtown Kyoto and located between the downtown and the Yasaka Shrine. In olden times this place was used as a place to relax by the travelers to Kyoto city and Yasaka Shrine. The old charms still remain but now it has become more commercial with many drinking/eating establishments, Geisha houses and even Pachinko Parlors. But it is one of the most visited places in Kyoto city and reminds the visitors of the by gone charm of the ancient Kyoto city.

Ah... memories.... thanks for sharing.
That familiar sound everytime the traffic light turns green :)
Heading there tomorrow, can't wait :) hopefully we will spot a Geisha!
A REALLY NICE AREA ! (y) Gion (祇園) is Kyoto's most famous geisha district, located around Shijo Avenue between Yasaka Shrine in the east and the Kamo River in the west. It is filled with shops, restaurants and ochaya (teahouses), where geiko (Kyoto dialect for geisha) and maiko (geiko apprentices) entertain.Gion attracts tourists with its high concentration of traditional wooden machiya merchant houses.
祇園サイコー😍💓💓👍️
Walk through the streets of Kyoto. Ordinary, but full of charm atmosphere of the historic Gion district.
